Default Just an idea for Romani

    Hi,

I'm absolutely in love with the detail in the new EB 1.0 build and you guys should pat yourselves on the back for making something you could easily charge money for.

I had an idea, that perhaps for the Roman faction, you could create a building in Rome called "Senate Administration" and it would be responsible for keeping public order in check, instead of having to keep a faction leader in the city to maintain power and order. I was just thinking of this because Rome (in the republican era, at least) was ruled by a Senate and did not live or die on one particular faction leader. This way too, you could keep all of the non-senate officers, and armies out of rome until the imperial reforms. Moreover, you could treat any character who tries to come into Rome before the imperial reforms as an "interloper" like you do with type IV govts. already.

    Just an idea.

this won't happen in EB 1. we're already at the limit pretty much for new buildings and certainly for uniques for the Romans (i try to fight for more, but other factions need them too).

Its not necessary, anyways. I always keep 5 or 6 characters in Rome, attending school, getting ancilliaries, etc, and keep it as a 'center of politics' for the republic, with all of my best leaders and teenage and young politicians at Rome learning the tricks of the trade. I send the middle-aged characters out to rule provinces, and old characters rule places in Italy. Senior magistrates like former consuls and praetors get the military commands for the year.

I absolutely do not keep any units stationed in Rome.

In EB II there will be a sort of interloper thing for dictators returning to Rome to take power.

There are so many buildings for the Roman faction that reduce unrest that I hardly have any problems with unrest in the homeland provinces. I usualy have the urban legion there (the units that are maintained by Rome's income), when it is not on campaing, and all characters under 20, at least until I have conquered Athens, plus the characters that don't hold an office or have retired.

Actually they represent the Roman urban citizens that will/can be called to arms. The same is for the units in the other towns. RTW does not realy support militia recruitment.

My sentiments exactly. After the marius reforms I won't anymore though.

Your government structure is almost identical to my own. In your earlier post you mentioned giving military posts for the year, do you actually change Generals often during a campaign? How about Campaigns in Asia Minor or Afrika, that's along way to travel just to take up command for a year.

I usually give a General a pro-praetorian/consular Imperium for the duration of a campaign. Campaigns could be to conquer a set number of regions, defeat a threatening army or even destroy a faction. I only switch generals if my general get's the deathbed trait or if he would happen to lose a significant battle(only happend once, send him to govern a dungheap in Gaul across the Alps).

Just curious about other peoples "house rules/roleplaying rules".
