    Default SS5.0 Irish Accent fix + Jerusalem & Templar changes

    Installing the files below will add the Irish accent from Kingdoms, both their speech and diplomacy text.

    It will also set the accent for Norway to Eastern European as it is in Kingdoms.

    Installation Instructions

    Backup files before overwriting!!

    1. Download the file.
    2. Unzip diplomacy.txt and diplomacy.txt.strings.bin into the Stainless_Steel\data\text directory.
    3. Unzip the rest of the files into the Stainless_Steel\data directory.
    4. Delete events.dat and events.idx from the Stainless_Steel\data\sounds directory.
    5. Restart Stainless Steel.

    Enjoy!

    Dangit. Not sure how to get the filename to appear again Well you get the idea

    Edit: Have uploaded files that also change the accents of the Kingdom of Jerusalem and Knights Templar factions to that of Kingdoms Antioch...they sound French but without the references to France Templar Zweihanders still sound German.

    Sorry if this is too elementary:

    I followed your instructions but deleting the events.dat and .idx have caused my game to go completely mute.

    Any way to stop this/what have I done wrong?

    I've uploaded my events files. Put these in the Stainless_Steel\data\sounds directory. Let me know if it improves the situation.

    Yep, worked a treat. Even fixed the non-talking russians at the same time.

    @ mailor: nah, i triple checked everything was installed right. Could just be my computer; stranger things are known to happen on it...

    Mongoose: Did you delete them in the mods\stainless_steel\data\sounds folder, or in the medieval2\data\sounds folder?

    Another thing which could be the problem (at least that was what happened to me): Have you copied the descr_sound_accents.txt file as well? Stupid question, I know. But I accidently forgot to use Caesar file and had the same problem (because the irish accent is obviously not defined properly, and this seemed to make the game mute completely).

    Caesar, tell me how exactly you did this. I want to include other accents from kingdoms in my game as well!

    Basically you just copy the accent information in the Kingdoms campaign files (you will need to unpack the campaigns) to the ones for SS and add the accent to the SS accents text file. You need to add the info in each of the files included in the Irish fix or some things will have no voice. Which accents do you want to add?

    Caesar: I am thinking of adding the Crusades accent for Kingdom of Jerusalem for the late era campaign, and maybe for the templars in the early era campaign.

    Also I am thinking of using the Welsh accent for Norway (I know this is even further away from realism, but I always play with norway, and the eastern accent is getting kind of annoying after some time.). I'll have to check first, if the Welsh accent has some faction-specific phrases though (I don't want my norwegians praise the victory of Wales after a battle...).

    The welsh accent just uses the English files in the way that Ireland uses the scottish files. I just checked and so does Jerusalem.

    edit: Just wondering if Jerusalem should have the Kingdoms Antioch accent (which uses french files)? After all a lot of the Kingdom of Jerusalem people were from france

    if only all accents would work for all non-English versions, too...

    Somehow, my German version seems only to know english, french, german, mediteranian and arabic accents (even with Kingdoms) ...

    if I'm not wrong, if I use -Irish&Jerusalem accents.zip -I'm done,
    no need to use -SS5 irish accent.zip -(wich was the first one you made)

    Yes that is right. The other fix was just changing the diplomacy text, whereas this adds in the specific Irish accent, which adds in its own diplomacy text (and resets the English back to talking about England)

    Here we go again. i had this problem before where all sound disappears. not even the fix above works. luckily this time i mad sure to back up the old files. If any one can help that would be great as this seems awesom but (at least on my machine) leads to no sound at all.
