Default Sweboz 272 BC - Peace or War with the Gauls?

I have a problem with the Sweboz economy on Hard campaign level.

It just goes shooting into the red by 5000 mnai a turn! This is even after I've conquered three small towns from the Elutheroi.

Which means either I've got to continue my blitzkreig with the remnants of my army, or make peace with the Gauls.

Is it historically realistic for the Sweboz to make peace with the Aedui and Arveni at the beginning of the game? I know the EB Dev Team made them be at war at the beginning, was that just for the AI's benefit, or is it more historically accurate that the human Sweboz player should stay at war with them permanently?

Trade with the Gauls is the only way I can think of to repair my crippled economy.

Just disband ur current army & start building some roads, markets, farms & economical buildings. Mines are one the best options. Also raise taxes and start lowering costs of all kinds. Build up ur economy internally. One doesn't need to trade with the gauls now that u have 3 settlements with which u can trade.

That one is problematic on every level.

You should have disbanded the four units cavalry in your first turn, they are responsible for 1/2 your debt.

Which means either I've got to continue my blitzkreig with the remnants of my army, or make peace with the Gauls.

A Blitzkrieg before 1939 AD would be more unrealistic than a peace between Germans and Celts. In our time frame the Germanic were slowly but steadily expanding in Central Europe. They had just crossed the Rhine and appeared along the Danube when Caesar conquered Gallia.

Most of the lands that they conquered were former Celtic, but a state of war betwee both people is by no way mandatory.

    Great, thanks for the comments.

So, it may be quite historically realistic for the Sweboz and the Aedui / Arveni to be at peace in 272 BC, especially since there are still independent Elutheroi tribes between Sweboz land and the Aedui and Arveni.

I imagine that tribal peoples go to war with their immediate neighbours more than they go to war with more distant enemies. Although there are notable exceptions of course, when a distant land is rich and ripe for conquest.
