I've made significant progress on the minimod-release, Amleth - TW.
However, due to education I have to put modding on standby for the moment. But I have a little present for you guys to have fun with - I'm releasing a playable beta!

    Download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EJ06VOQL

    Installation:
    - Unpack the folder "bi" into you RTW-BI directory (the mod is completely mod-foldered)
    - Change the destination-lines in the shortcut.
    - Play!

    - Loading-screens courtesy of Giovanni Caselli.
    - Music rights pending.
Others: Saxo Grammaticus, Svensk Viking, Swabian, Hross, etc.

    Cheers

So I downloaded the mod and copy-pasted the 'bi' folder in Amleth to my new 'Amleth Total War' folder, where it replaced the original vanilla 'bi' folder. I just can't start the game because I'm having trouble with the destination lines of the shortcut even though I think I put the right ones. Any tips? Thanks.

Check again and make sure the drive is correct aswell.

Well I can't now for some reason because on Windows 7, whenever I right-click on the shortcut now it starts loading for a while, and sometimes Windows Explorer stops responding.

Also is the windows batch file the one the shortcut should be going to? Because I executed it but the game does not load.

Mod looks great, Im downloading it. I have always very much liked mods that focus on a certain part of the world. I mean the whole world map is great, you see all kind of units but when I play a campaign on a map such as in your mod for example, I dont know, somehow the RPG element seems to come out stronger for me. I mean using the characteristic units of that period that existed in that corner of the world, basically going deeper into the life like ambient of that place and time.

    Downloaded.

    I still do not understand.

I extract the files to my RTW folder. A new AmlethBETA folder is created inside with everything in it. Inside this folder, there is a shortcut and an icon. I'm not sure if I changed the destination of the shortcut correctly but all i changed was the startin which I made it correspond to the location of the shortcut and the destination folder which I changed nothing besides the drive and adding 'Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\' instead of that 'spil' thing.

So I run the game and I get a message saying 'could not read file data\descr_strategy_lightning.txt' so of course the game cannot run.

Is there something I'm doing wrong here? Because I'd really like to play it.

Ahh, yes... You have to open the "AmlethBETA"-folder and extract the "bi" folder inside it.

In other words, make sure that, in the end, you have a folder called "amleth" with the string, "Rome - Total War\bi\amleth"

If it still isn't working, I'm not sure what's wrong (presuming you have a clean RTW-BI.)

I'll try this again. Would you mind giving clearer instructions as to what to extract and exactly where to as well as what I should change the startin and destination of the shortcut to.

So I finally got this mod to work by doing pretty much the same thing as before, except by paying more attention. I'll go start playing it right now as one of the 5 available factions. I just noticed that when I quit, the message "DATABASE_TABLE error found: unrecognised record id ardu requested" appears.

Btw, are you planning on continuing to improve the beta or are you focusing on other mods?

    This is a sub-mod?
