In school we have just watched Road to Perdition with our Media Class, and it was amazing. The films been out since 2002 and ive never heard or seen anyone talk about it, it also stars Tom Hanks another reason on top of many to wonder why noone had seemed to had watched it.

So what movies did you feel, are not getting the recognition they deserve?

Definitely. I was shocked at how good it was and by the beauty of the cinematography. The only reason why it isn't more well known is because it came out in the same year as Saving Private Ryan.

Tombstone, a western starring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. It's about the story of Wyatt Earp, as is, in my opinion, immeasurably superior to the Kevin Costner picture about the same subject. Unfortunatey, Costner's film, while still a good film, is inferior but somehow better known and reviewed than Tombstone. Another piece of proof that there is no justice in this world.

Deep Impact welll at least under appreciated so much better than that other film of similar plot that was released that year. FOr one thing it was much more believable considering that they ind the comet over 2 years in advance and also trhe fact that it gives much better charcter development than the other film which will remain unamned.

was light years ahead of Armageddon. But it wasn't that great - I got tired of the whole religious undertone.

The Agony Booth has a pretty good rundown of Armageddon, I suggest you read it.

Underrated films? I, Robot I suppose, I can't think of any else.

Considering Denzel won an academy award for that film I don't think its underrated... maybe overrated, but not under.

Tombstone, now theres a movie I think its underrated and flat out ignored. By far the best Wyatt Earp film to date, with a stellar performance from Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday.

One comedy that many people don't know about is So I Married an Axe Murderer. One of Mike Myers earlier films (released a year after Wayne's World). Absolutely HILARIOUS, right up there with the original Austin Powers imho. Yet its only achieved cult classic status and the vast majority of people don't even know it exists.

Le pacte du loups(Brotherhood of the wolf): Now you got to know about me I don't perticulary enjoy French movies, this one is definitly an exeption. O, and it has Emilie Dequenne in it.

High Fidelity - Based on the Nick Hornby book . The book is set in London but the film is based in Chicago . Don't let that sway you though as it keeps all the brillance of the book AND it has Jack Black in it.

Family Man - Nicholas Cage is brilliant in this film. Beautiful if somewhat disturbing. Old formula I admite but still a great film . Tea Leoni is in it

One of my favorite movies and who I think is sadly underrated/unknown to the public is the Icelandic Viking film Hrafninn flýgur (When the Raven flies)...
The soundtrack to the movie is amazing and so is also the settings, I mean it is the perfect place to shoot a viking movie with the harsh Icelandic nature/climate...

here is a little more info, though not much: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hrafninn_fl%C3%BDgur

Most of the movies I like are under-rated. By "under-rated," I mean they didn't so well at the box office. So, here are some under-rated movies I enjoyed:

    1) Alexander (one of my favorite movies actually)

    2) Thirteenth Warrior (good job mentioning that one)

    3) Thirteen Days (I love movies like this)(If you enjoyed it, check out "Path to War" starring Alec Baldwin as McNamara)

    4) Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift (guilty fun)

    5) FlyBoys (I don't remember if this movie was successful or not)

    6) Star Trek Nemesis

    7) Troy (here's another one. I'm not sure if this movie was successful or not)

    8) Signs (this is the only Shyamalan movie I enjoyed)

    9) Skeleton Key (most people chose to skip this movie at the theatres, but I enjoyed it)

    10) Doom (most people I know didn't care for this movie, but it was solid)

    11) Battlefield Earth (another guilty pleasure for me)

    12) Starship Troopers (one of my favorite sci-fi movies ever)(floored by every professional critic out there)

    13) Wing Commander (another videogame-to-movie adaptation which I really enjoyed)

    14) Live Free or Die Hard

    15) Enemy at the Gates (I saw this movie in the theater 5+ times) lol

I'll add more to this list later as I think of some more titles.

    Not true.
American critics maybe since the director has a tendence to make movies that piss americans off but Swedish critics liked it.
