I've liked Deep purple but that was only for smoke on the water their most well known hit, this was untill my friend sent me Child in time i can't get enough of them their great. Does anyone else feel the same way.

My fav song would have to be Child in time it has got a great rythm section with Lord providing great intros and rythm, Glovers bass is strong through out, Blackmores great solo and to top it off Ians banshee screams

    Child in time

One of the greatest metal bands ever. Child in Time is one of my favourite songs.

Lazy is great, and one of the lesser known ones that I love is "And the Address"

Frankly, the pairing of Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore is one of the greatest in the history of modern music

Oh, and April. Definitely April. Absolutely magnificent

It's all so orgasmic. Don't really like Deep Purple after MkII (that's the main one, right? Ok)

I swear I had a dream the other night that the Mk II lineup was getting back together. That was odd. Shame it'll never happen, now that the Man in Black is stuck in the Renaissance.

Also, I can't believe you forget Strange Kind of Woman and Hush, my two favourite DP songs.

In Rock is the ultimate DP album.

Second for me would probably be Shades of Deep Purple

    Then Machine Head

By the way, I've been meaning to listen to "Rainbow" for a long time now. RRF, do you listen to them?

Very casually, I only really know two songs, Since You've Been Gone and Stargazer. I know I've heard others, but for the life of me, I can't remember any of them.

Nice topic, Deep Purple is great.

I recently started to like the band that Ritchie Blackmore formed with Ronnie James Dio called Rainbow. They seem to be good until Dio left for Sabbath because they wanted to turn it into a more "commercial" band.

This was also a really great band. Blackmore + Dio = pwn.

Youtube has some good videos for them if you want to see more.
