i just started playin RTW

i was wonderin iv almst wiped out the greeks (took sparta)
its on short campaign
ow do u unlock the greeks,germans,gauls,ect..

I may be wrong but I think that after you play the Prologue all factions are unlocked (or most anyway)...

Sorry, I have not played an unmodified RTW for years but I'm sure someone will remember that...

Indeed; we all started as peasants, don't worry; as your post count rises you will go to more interesting titles...

You have to either wipe out the faction or complete a campaign, long or short. Scythia, spain, numidia, armenia, pontus, macedon are not unlockable and to play them you need to go to the files and put those as playable manually.

You can do the "mod" thing; but you can also just finish (win) your short campaign. IIRC, all unlockable factions then become unlocked.

Please save a copy of the descr_strat file before editing

Go to the following directory:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Open up the text file entitled descr_strat

At the beginning of the file, it lists which factions are unlocked, which factions can be unlocked and which factions cannot be unlocked. Change this section so it looks like the following:

romans_scipii
egypt
seleucid
carthage
parthia
gauls
germans
greek_cities
romans_senate
macedon
pontus
armenia
dacia
scythia
spain
thrace

It does, though playing as SPQR do NOT click on senate tab.

To unlock the unlockable factions (GCS, TSE, Egypt, Parthia, Germans, Carthage, and some others) just complete a Roman campaign (short or long, doesn't matter). If you also want the unplayables, just copy paste Sapi's post into descr_strat.

All i had to do is go to descr_strat, set all of the factions excepts SPQR and slaves to unlockable and then played a short campaign as the julii and that unlocked all of the factions for me.
