    Default == Ancillary Editor Project ==

    Since the CVP is done now I have started to work on another project with Vercingetorix. It is an Ancillary Editor. This is being done so I don’t have to code things line by line like we did for the VnV files as it took way to long. If all goes well we will have a revised ancillary list to match the CVP in a week or two.

    Most recent version, allows for editing the descriptions from the export_ancillaries.txt directly.

    The editor is coming along nicely! Vercingetorix is doing an excellent job! If he has no problems with it, I’m all for releasing this to the public after some small issues are worked out.

    I am wondering if the small problems you are having relate to not being able to use the newly generated desription and export_descr_ancillary.txt file itself in game without it causing a crash?

    I have had no joy/success in attempting to re-write out new files even with the exact information from the originals and get them to work.

    If that is not the case I would be seriously interested in how you have gotten them to work in game.

    Did you see how we remade the VnV files for the CVP? I wanted to do something like that for the ancillary aspects as well.

    EDIT:

    I would seem the description files are actually encoded as UNICODE not UTF7 or 8. Hence the problem.

    Fixed. Already have JaDE working 100% with the ancillary edits now in game. Boy that took a few hours to figure out. Next time I will open all those damn text files in Word instead of notepad.

    Yea that got me too but a little look in hex proved self explanitory. I haven't worked on the editor since the 4th and won't have time untill end of finals week (next week). Spartan you can release it whenever, now or later is fine with me.

    Edit: thought I might upload a pic from the latest version.

    No worries.

    BTW, if you guys ever need help with anything let me know, till then I will just be hacking away on Jade.

    I am a bit curious though. Does anyone know what the tools from CA will look like, if they are ever released? Will they be a robust set of editors like the community is building, or are we just getting their excel sheets (like was/is the case in the Nexus community) ?

    Just wondering cause I would hate to spend a lot of time on something only to have it usurped by tools that we could have been given already.

    I've had this very same concern with all the tools I've written. My outlook is that we're really writing tools untill the real thing comes out, if it ever will. Since we're slightly left in the dark as to what tools CA will release it's hard to say which tools we need and can make or which tools CA will give us and we don't need make our own.

    Don't worry 'bout it I've only been programming for a year aswell overlook things much worse then that all the time : .

    By the way, maybe you should join the Trivium, I think I may be the only active programmer (may be wrong not 100% on the ball of who's doing what) :smile

    Sounds like we have to do what we will do.

    I didn&#39;t mean to imply I had only been programming a year BTW, More like 25. Yes, I am a fossil. Just meant I made a stupid mistake to not check the format of the data files, assumed they were standard 7 or 8 bit encoding, since I could ADD a new ancillary, but couldn&#39;t get mine to work, then I said, uh, beavis, they made these for localization, try unicode.

    Maybe I just needed more, less?, beer today :

    Team work is good, I may be inclined to join. Just let me know what the process is, who to nag endlessly, and I&#39;ll do what I can

    I have tested it a lot and things work very well.

    BTW: we also had the same issue with the CVP as far as code goes.

    Regarding the official tools, I think we are really making them. If CA would release a full set then it could hurt the business model for an add-on pack.

    Also Amorano we would be happy to have you join. Currently Verc and MrHide are our two resident programmers and more are always welcome.

    Is there someplace you guys meet up to discuss things other than here? Mirc, other forum, IM&#39;s?

    Is there a process to join?

    I am all for it at this point. I feel the guys you have coding now are definately top notch code jockeys and I am always on the seek for input and projects to do.

    At one stage I was going to make a tool for editing ancillaries and VnVs myself, but I never really got arround to it... Real life got in the way, and I was always coming up with new things to add to my existing editors.

    Well, looks like you saved me the trouble, probably a good thing really&#33; I haven&#39;t been interested enough in RTW recently to start on something new.

    howdy all

    I just wondered if anyone knows how to edit the pictures of the retinues? Want to add little pic of Gandalf to replace mystic... Ive been trying with photoshop, saving as tga 32 bit compressed, but the pics dont change.

    Any ides?

    It can be done but requires some skill. I hope Verc can make it a painless process via the editor. If not oh well. It is not a "must" function.
