No he did'nt try to destroy America...

What he tried to do was act in the Nation's best intrest, in horribly immoral ways. You can't just step on a Supreme Court decision.

Well we don't want those damn hicks to succeed now do we.

Jackson was an okay President. He trashed the Supreme Court, but it was in the countries best interest. Rather like FDR, only what he did wasn't in the best interests.
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be used until they try and take it away.

He was something of tyrant but, as usual in American politics, the alternative was worse.

I consider Jackson the first American Socialist. "The Bank, always a privately owned institution." Wikipedia Page on the Second National Bank of the United States

Well it seems you should learn your history before you post.

They came into being for the express purpose of opposing Jackson's policies, who else exactly do you think opposed him?

So if a president wanted he could round up 40,000 peolpe and force them from where they lived and if the supreme court told him to stop he could just ignore them please tell me where in the constutution it says that. Also Jackson unlike lincoln never was really faced with the dinsinergation of his nation.

Who is this aimed at? I've already said he was a tyrant.

You you seem to think that Jackson a man who amongst other things circumvented the constitution and who alsoinvaded a state that was going to seceed is better than lincoln who was actually faced with disinergration of the USA. YOu seem to think that the outcome if Jackson had never been elected would have been terrible but the outcome if Lincoln had let the south go and the Union disinigrate would have been alright.

Jackson brought politics closer to the people and prevented a Federalist-style scheme to centralize government power via the central bank. That is what makes him better than Lincoln in my eyes, though ultimately I don't much care for either one of them to be honest.
