There is Rebels vs Empire thread and Star Trek thread but not thread for other, maybe less known SciFi series. Now this is a thread to argue which one of the SciFi series/movies is the best and general chatting about it.

My personal favourite is Babylon 5 it has definetly best plot and action (at least the space combat is best ive seen) Actor work is great and once again the plot is excellent. Oh yes and music is also great.
This sums it up a little...

    Oh yes: DISCUSS

I like BSG space battles are overall good (alkthough I think they could use some beam weapons).

Ok, it isn't a series or movie but it's still an improtant scifi universe.

Yes, Warhammer is nice also. Like the dark feeling and bloodieness...
As for other candidates, there is so many of different series, i just put few maybe best known ones to the poll.
Acting weak in B5's first season? Hows so?

I'm not a fan of soft-core Sci fi (star wars, star trek etc).
I'm more of a hard sci fi guy, preferably Cyberpunk genre.
So, series you say? I must say animation directors have contributed alot to cyberpunk genre both in movies and series... Ergo proxy and ghost in the shell being 2 recent and good Cyberpunkish series. Unfortunatly many people still think animation is just for kids, sadly.

Farscape to me really changed what the SciFi genre can do and how the characters relate to one another. Bab5 is great, but the fact that the acting was so weak in the first season I can't really call it a solid show. Where for me, Farscape started out great and only got better.

Come on, you can't tell me that Crais' character arch isn't one of the best in any SciFi show?

How is Firefly not on this list? It was the best sci-fi series ever, it was so amazingly awesome. I would do dirty, dirty things with Fox executives to get Firefly back.

The movie they made couldn't compare to the sheer glorious awesomeness of Firefly. Firefly was so good, I watched every episode in one sitting and enjoyed every second of it. I would have even enjoyed the commercials going on during Firefly, simply because they facilitated more Firefly.

And if I ever, ever, ever find the Fox executive who cancelled it ... his death will not be short. It will be long and painful.

Could'nt agree more. Firefly was awesome. Serenity was also awesome, and apparently, there are rumours that they are going to make a sequel.

Anyway, I voted Star Trek purely because of its scope, and the fact that it has never been offensively American (unlike BSG... its just Americans in space dammit!). Sure, there are some really shite episodes of Star Trek (the entire first season of DS9 being a case in point), but the overall quality overrides any shortcomings.

And Futurama rules as well.... the first of the new TV movies should be released soon

This is very true, but the depraved people at Fox would enjoy the evil things more. They're just that evil.

If you haven't seen Firefly you must, I believe you can legally download it - at least you used to be able to, they offered the episodes on their website or something as an advertisement for Serenity.

Firefly > Serenity. By massive proportions. Someone who hasn't seen Firefly, for instance, doesn't care that Wash dies in Serenity, but someone who sees Firefly goes "WHY? WHY? THERE IS NO GOD! NOTHING IS RIGHT IN THE UNIVERSE!"

Firefly? I got bored to it very quickly..
From Stargates i prefer Atlantis over the orginal, but thats maybe just because it brought something new to the old format.

I would do dirty, dirty things with you and then with the Fox executives.

Well, my favourite television series of all time is The X-Files. I started watching it a year ago and I'm up to season eight. You know, everything I've seen before it seems so mediocre. It isn't full of half-assed scriptwriting, it has a brilliant plot as well as characters. It's a wonderful show and I'm going to be sad when I finish it.

Some of these you have to break up.

I like Deep Space nine but HATE Voyager and Enterprise.

Where Babylon 5 and Farscape are really just one thing. Both great of course.

Also Stargate was best when the enemies were the Goauld. They were by far the best villains of the series and they were the most interesting characters and has the best backstory as well. This whole Ori and Wraith idea that came along later is lame.

But with everything, the more popular it became, the worst it got.

Huh? I would say Firefly and Farscape are far more similar story wise than Bab5.

I actually didn't like Firefly when it first came out simply because I felt Farscape was a better show.
