Default A Question for all you Modders

I have been trying to download MODS for M2TW. All three that I have tried to download have been unsuccessfull. They all have opened up to the splash screen then it immediatley CTD. I tried Clouds Across Europe 1.3, Stainless Steel 4.0 and 4.1, and Ultimate AI. It has done the same thing on all three. What is the problem? Am I doing something wrong. Is it my copy of M2TW? What is it? I am getting really angry. I have downloaded RTW MODS with no problem what is difference? Can someone please help me? Thanks

    Moved to the Mod Threads.

You do have a legal copy of M2TW right? Maybe you're not installing the mods correctly, I don't know. Let's go with SS 4.1. Tell me step by step how you installed it.

I downloaded it. Then I used the default installer. The only thing that I am doing different is I am not letting download into the defualt location. c:\program files\Medieval II: Total War...etc. I normally copy my sega file and copy the mod into it so I don't have to unistall the whole game if I don't like the MOD.

However, I thought the installing to the copied M2TW might be the problem so I installed is once to the original copy. Same thing again. CTD

Did you look at your system log? It usually reports what caused the CTD. Is your game fully patched up?

Yes, check the log. All mods would have that enabled.

Mods shouldn't need their own directory either.

If I instal the MOD over the Vanilla game would I be able to play the Vanilla game if I wanted at a later time?

The mod should install itself into its own folder in the main directory, so yes you should be able to play vanilla if you wanted.

Good, now can anybody answer the original question?

Check the directory, that the mod versions match your M2 version, that there isn't a problem with your M2 installation etc.

It might also help if you check the error log. It's located in the "logs" folder in the main directory. Check the bottom of the file.

If you reinstall and follow the installation instructions of mods to the letter, I don't see why you would have a problem.

Do you think that I should uninstal my M2TW and start from scratch or what?
