    Default Extended campaign

My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I check the forum regularly but may have missed it if it has.

My understanding is the game will be broken up into segments of goal oriented mini-campaigns where basically the world is custom made for the chosen faction to reflect a particular time-frame and experience. This is cool. The reasoning I understood to be because most people did not finish the longer campaigns. I understand this as well. (I actually have finished)

Regardless, my question is, will the option to play a long village-to-empire game still be there. Perhaps some need to have a congratulatory "you win" from the computer or to have specific goals, but I always enjoyed the challenge of managing a large empire. Also, history doesn't have a "cut-off" point where a civilization wins, things continue on. Especially with the possiblity of revolt in the BI engine, even if you subdue the entire world, the possibility of civil war among your own people basically means the game can go on forever. As mentioned, this is a plus with me
Even if it is not available stock from you, will it be possible for me to modify it to be that way without too much trouble? I really like the way RTR works, and don't really want to jack with another mod, so if I can stay with it, I will.

Of course! The grand campaign will definitively be there.

There'll be a main campaign (large map) starting 280 BC - 1 AD which, while there's some scripted events are generally more open ended gameplay. The only faction I think you can play historically is the Romans since to play other factions in this period historically mean to be subdued by the Romans at some point of the game..

The mini-campains however are on specific part of the map and on specific time frames, with playable historical campaign for certain faction while a 'what-if' scenario for other playable faction/s.

It's something like M2TW and Kingdom expansion.

Yup. For example, how to play historically as Suebii from gametime which spans from 280 BC - 1 AD ?

To play historically as Carthage in this period ? :hmmm:

It's ok. I always play as the Romans anyway. Harvus Optimus Maximus is my name. Killing Gauls, Greeks, Carthies, and pretty much everybody else is my game.

One more question please, if you don't mind. I hear that the Alexander expansion allows increased unit sizes. Is this true? If so, does the RTR team have any plans on creating a version for it, with larger armies? I like the idea of leading entire legions (for real, and not just made up name for a stack).

Nope. RTW-Alex (1.6) disable the hording capability which is the feature of RTW-BI (1.6). Anyway not many people I believe have RTW-Alex anyway.
