    Default No Sound

I've played version 3 and 4 without any issues, recently changed my O/S to Vista so waited for version 5 which I installed yesterday.

Fixed the language issue, started my first campaign and discovered the sound bug, namely where Scotland was my minus sound so followed the instructions to fix the sound, which resulted in me having no sound in the game at all.

Tried a couple of other fixes I've found in various posts but still no sound, I've uninstalled and re-installed SS5.0 twice but no sound this time from the start, all my vanilla versions are still working fine. * When I say no sound I literally mean no sound, no back ground sound on the campaign map or anything.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

    TIA

Probably overkill, but have you tried reinstalling M2?

I've not, that would mean uninstalling then re-installing SS, Kingdoms and MTW2? I was hoping there was a simpler solution but if necessary I will give that a go.

Did you delete any files from your sounds directory? If so, which ones?

I deleted the events.dat and events.idx originally, that then rendered no sound in the game at all, I restored these files but still no sound in the game, so then I followed instuctions in another post that said delete all files in this directory (data/sounds) and unpack some other files into /medieval total war 2/data which I did and still no sound, so then I removed SS completely and re-installed and still had no sound.

    Thank you.

*Just to clarify, no sound, there is sound within the intro movie and a low rumbling in the menus (background music, I guess) but there is no sound when you click menu items and no sound at all in the actual game, this is SS, the vanilla versions works just fine still.

So, no one knows the solution for such problem? I've asked before in the 4.1 bugs forum, but I didn't get an answer. Here's what I wrote there:

I'm experiencing an awkward situation. Yesterday I installed Stainless Stell and played for about three hours. Everything was fine, great mod, my campaign was going very well. Then I closed the game, removed the CD, shut down the PC and went to sleep.

An hour ago, I tried to play the game again, with Stainless Steel of course. I inserted the CD, closed the menu that appears due to autorun, and double-clicked the SS icon on the desktop. Everything went fine, except there was no sound at all. Strange, I had it yesterday, you not now? What's the solution for my problem people?
I can play the vanilla alright, but after having played a mod like SS it just feels awfully obsolete. I can't enjoy the game as much in the "normal" version anymore.

There has to be a solution for this, come on, am I the only one with Vista on the entire forum?

I'm at work right now so i can't look at the files but, you should be able to copy the files from /medieval/data/sound to the medieval/stainless_steel/data/sound folder and that should fix it. although I thought 5.1 fixes this also Echad's fix pak should take care of this.
