Patch 1.2 - 1.3 Game Crashing

umm... when i installed kingdoms, it said that there was something wrong with the data_0.pack file when it was updating from 1.2-1.3, but the installation kept on going... so after the game was finished installing, when i try to run kingdoms or the original total war, the game crashses right at start up...saying i got a unspecified error and will now exit... can anyone help me?

Try installing patch 1.3 off the internet instead of in the Kingdoms installer, then install kingdoms
