(ooc) Oh I must have missed that part about the attack. This is an unusual lapse for me.

    Never mind, I retract that.

I am against enslaving the populace of these cities. Instead, enslave the leaders of these peoples, let them live forever under the might of the people they would have destroyed. Besides, new slaves would take more work from the Plebians, which the Populares should understand.

I do agree with the colonist idea. It would be a good step towards Romanizing the Barbarians as well, so optimates should back the colonist idea.

It is true retaliation is in order for an unprovoked attack but is not killing their men enough? need we bring them back in chains as well? How dose that make us better then they. I say for now we show mercy but, should they rise again against us let the reprimanding be hard but then and only then.

I have no care for these people as they are umimportant and few in number. I think that in this case they should be enslaved for their agression and support the plan to fill their place with Roman Colonists!

Motion for enslavement yay 2 - 1 nay

Motion for colonists taking their place yay 3 -0 nay

Yes, let us ally with these people like the Italians before them. This will cement our alliance with them, and they will be less likely to rise against us in the case of an invasion.

If this motion for enslavement passes I may veto it.

Motion for enslavement yay 2 - 2 nay

I do support the Colonist plan

Motion for colonists taking their place yay 6 -0 nay

however, we should discuss the plans for this emigration. We don't want to lose to much of the work force.

I do not mind enslaving the nobles of these settlements, cato. They ordered these attacks and should be punished. It is the normal people that I do not want led back to Rome in chains.

Why is it you are rushing to enslave these nobles but would easily leave the Tarantine fools alone?

Because Tarentum fools.. Were not Fools they were Slaves under Phyruss and were wishing to be liberated and we did so.
i dont want to hear the "But they called them" Lie i dont care..

But these Nobles used their own Citizens and Men to Attack us.. No Greeks or Gauls.. Their own and for that kind of agression they should be punished!

The Tarantines sent there own men after us. There were tarantine hoplites in the armies that fought us and I have a Tarantine helmet in my possession that one of my legates gave me as a souvenir.

Do not tell me the Tarantine oligarchs were scared children waiting to be freed.

It was just meant to be a simple statement. Surely the past is behind us and we must focus on this new battle.
