Default I'd like a suggestion for a good mod

I haven't really gotten a response for some of the modding folks I've asked, so allow me to repeat myself then!

I'm looking for a mod that re-skins all of the vanilla factions' units, give or take (no need for the fantasy units like War Dogs, Arcani, etc.).

So something that makes the Romans, Parthians, Dacians, everyone look better, without substantially altering anything else in the game. The Senate, the campy system of 3 Roman factions, I'd like everything else in.

Is there such a mod out there?

Hmmm, most RTW mods removed the 3 roman factions and senate - so that's a hard one. But excluding that aspect... as far as "vanilla"-ish mods go, I really liked Lusted's Terrae Expugnandae mod the best - simple, neat, yet quite enhanced and not too cerebral either (unlike like RTR or EB). And most units are reskinned, better and expanded camp map, and looks very nice. TE is really what RTW vanilla should have been like.

lusted's terra expugndae (or however you spell it) would be good for you.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

    Terra Expugnandae looks really awesome.

I noticed that there is only one Roman faction in that mod, however. Is there still something like the Roman Civil War? That was one of the funnest features of RTW - overthrowing the Republic!

You could always just download separate skins and put them in the game.

Play XGM -- it has a rebel Roman faction, so you can still get some civil war action going, and it keeps the vanilla look and feel.

Oh yeah Cassus Belli is a great mod and it retains the 3 roman family faction.

Darthmod or Terrae Expugnandae sounds right for you. In Darthmod you can choose if you want to play with the 3 families or a unified Rome. TE was probably my first favorite mod. I also suggest you just download a heap of them and test them out. I currently have about 16 different mods for RTW/BI which are all splendid in my book.

Theoretically, it would be possible to download Terrae Expugnadae and just seperately put the skins and UI cards into the game, right?

I could make all four of the Roman factions have the same skins and all look Julii-ish.

I recommend donloading BareBonesWars. It keeps the same units but adds in tonnes and tonnes so every faction has a large roster. It also has lots of different campaigns you can try out.
Asking for rep is a sure fire way to not receive any, at least from this old cynic.

I recommend the SPQR mod where it isn't an entirely unified Rome. You play as the romans, but the Senate has got a lot of armies (I think 6 stacks) to defy you with if things get nasty. It has changed all skins, and all units has got 2 hitpoints (which is better according to me, because it gets the battles more realistic). 0 recruitment time is a new possibility, and you start with 3 legions. These are nicely balanced armies that shall keep peace in your empire.

You really get a feeling of real legions, and after marius the legions belong to a certain city. It's a really nice mod focusing on the romans, but not overpowering them as much as in vanilla. Hoped this helped and good luck!

I think that some older versions of Rome:Total Realism also include more Roman factions :hmmm:I know for sure that v5 still has Senate faction (beside 'Romans'). And apart from that, RTR is an excellent mod.
