Default Advice on finding a vanilla RTW re-skin

I'm looking for a mod that gives every RTW faction a re-skin (so no purple pajama-wearing Parthians) but changes little to nothing else.

I'd still like the stupid Senate, and the three Roman factions, and all the other vanilla features in place.

Is there a mod out there that just changes all the vanilla factions' skins, and nothing more?

I suggest you, if you like the system of the Senatus and the three roman factions, the italian mod: Casus Belli. It changes lots of things, terrain and vegetation too, fantastic units, uncomparable system of the roman army... and diplomacy. a master work
I tried it and i think its one of the best mod, but it's not actually the final realease, and at the moment it's only in italian.
    cheers

Oh really? And you've made how many mods?

Doesnt matter how many mods he has made he has a right to critique the work of others and state his opinion. You have to expect that when you make a mod - its not going to be for everyone.

Sure, but it was never a question of the free speach but of social courtesy. These people invest huge amounts of their time and, more than this, they put heart into it. One can only try to be more gently when giving negative feedback or not give it at all, even though he is able to. Since, after all, these parts of the twc forums and a good deal of the reason why the twc forums in general exists is because of these people who mod the game. You can of course tell some they`re mediocre or even bad at it(might be true too), but it`s simpler and more polite to quitely switch to another mod that you like.

PS: you people realize a whole year season has passed between Candelarius`s post and the previous one, right?

"They could have done a better job" is hardly constructive critism. It's rude and obnoxious. Unless he has something constructive besides "do a better job", he is better off going and playing whatever mod is "for him" and keeping his non-contributory comments to himself. My comment about him doing his own mods simply meant it's easy to critisize the work of others when you have no appreciation for the level of effort and devotion they have put into their work.

    Thrust me.
There are many mods that I do not think are the "best of mods", but I don't go around this forum pointing that out to them. I politely smile at their effort and move on. Sure Ferres is a great artist, but, that doesn't mean that others that are not "up to his level" are somehow inferior.

Exactly, Florin. At least somebody else around has a sense of common decency and respect for the hard work of others.

And no, I didn't notice how old this discussion was!

This is an opinion from one who obviously didn't care to look properly at the mod in question before passing judgement upon it, and has little understanding about what it takes to improve important aspects of the game. First of all, CB has not just re-skinned all units, it has upgraded the sense of realism in their appearance to a level which few RTW mods about the Roman era have attained so far. As an example of the quality here, I post the following screenshot (I seldom see faces that so closely resemble real people):

Secondly, CB has not only re-skinned the units, it offers, among other things, a new big map which extends all the way to the Indus Valley in the east, and to Ethiopia in the south, new vegetation for a more natural setting on the battlefields, new music which creates a greater historical feel about it all (especially if you play as the Romans), and new movies for all kinds of events (like the outcome of a spying mission) - a novelty which, to my knowledge, is an CB exclusive. So, if it hadn't been for the mod still being all Italian (and the beta having some balancing issues left), I think Campvs Caesar's advice to Naja was very good. The next mod in line meeting Naja's requirements for realism may be Snake IV's Roman Faction Mod 2 for RTR PE 1.6. You can find this mod by references here:

Edit: I forgot that there's another mod that meets the requirements: the Custom Mod for RTR Platinum 1.9. You can get that one here:
