Default Extreme lag in EB 1.0

Am I the only person who are experiencing extreme lag on EB 1.0?
Of course, EB is a lot more resource demanding than most other mods and 0.81 was a bit laggy but I never experienced such a severe lag like EB 1.0.
The moment I activate my script the FPS drops about 15, and it turns into a slide show when I try to cursor through the map.
In battle, whenever I try to turn my camera my FPS drops to about 5.
    Is this supposed to happen?
    My specs are
    Athlon64 3500+
    2GB RAM
    GeForce 7600GT

I lower all terrain options to the lowest settings and raise unit settings to the highest. AA on high, troops at large. turn off high quality shadows. works great

Thing will be slow on the campaign map until everything loads up (about 15 min for me)

Trade some features for others: disable Shadows if you want a good Anti-Aliasing, and vice-versa. And I never use Grass on the Battle Map: it gets a bit laggy in 0.81, but the game is still much better and prettier than in Vanilla. I usually even get more lag in the Battle Map with Vanilla.

BTW I have 1GB of RAM and an old GeForce FX 5500 256MB.

On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

I used to run that same setup a year ago. Anyway, ditching either the shadows or the AA seems to do it for me. Then again, I really don't care so much for graphics as long as my soldiers sorta looks like people in a general sense.

    hi strategous.

i had the same problem with 8.1 and soved it completely. no antialiaising, no shadows, and that only solved the lag in strat map. the battles only lagged with huge battles, so no grass, medium terrain detail and voila! runs perfect.

i've found that antialiaising consumes a lot of resources, without it the game runs better, and the graphical difference is minimal. in the battle map i've found that the grass settings have the bigger impact on performance. so play with the video options. i have a rather old and cheap video card (nvidia 7100gs) and EB 1.0 runs smoothly.

    i hope it helps.

Well, it only makes a minimal difference even if I turn off all the graphics option.
    It still lags as hell.
I'll try a clean re-install to see if that does anything.

My computer is far worse than yours and it works absolutely fine. Do you have any programs working in the background, or perhaps there is something malicious at work (do you have AV?).

    Same here:

    Athlon64 3000+
    2GB RAM
    GeForce 6600GT 128MB

15-25 fps in the strat map and from 5-30 fps in battle with medium to small armies (Huge unit size).

I recall there was a thread showing how to speed up EB by shutting down unecessary Windows processes.

I find that the campaign map has slowed down a lot more. I never had too many problems in the last version, just in the celtic regions where the trees were heavy but now i find the mediterranean slow and i think it's due to the beautifully revamped water I guess you can't have it all eh, hahaha.

My lag problem is to load the game, after clicking the EB sign it takes more than 15 minutes to show the intro video, any ideas how to make it better, it was not like this in 0.81v2. The computer is a Pentium D 925 3.0, 1GB RAM (DDR2 500mhz), Harddrive 120 GD Sata, and a lazy Radeon express 1100 running Windows Vista

Did you have Vista when playing 0.81?

Yeah! it already made .81 lag a little more than in previous windowns, but now, I almost always need phasing out and then phasing back to make it work (alt +Tab = Phase )

Im only having lag on the campaign map(and the turns taking longer)think its mainly to do with the water, anyway to get rid of the water? .Battles are fine can have everything turned up to max.

Campaingmap Lags on start but it goes away after one or two turns. During the game it still lags occasionally every now and then, but it goes away if i click end turn. The AI turns take a long amount of time compared to vanilla. (some month ago i played several turns without script to test the Disaster event messages, and the AI turn lenght, was much much faster)
The initial starting sequenz, takes a long time, too.
This can make your evening fun if you need to start and quit the game many times, because you want to see if your changes to the game are working without error.
This makes even more fun if your changes aktually produce errors and you need to get back to your textfiles fixing it, again and again... God, how i hated the Province name change.

5-30 fps in battle with medium to small armies (Huge unit size).
From my experince the frame rate in battles has dropped as the new skies were included. Before i could play battles without any problem on large with small AA and AF in max detail. But now it started to lag with lower detail setting sand AA Af off. Not as heavy as the campaignmap but noticaebale and annoying.

then the mod developers should release an add-on that disables the new water and the new skies!

I also got horrible lag as soon as I activated the script. Basically, the game is unplayable like that for me - back to Chivalry TW.
