Default Starting RTW again / Any big changes?

Hello, I played RTW when it was released and obviously I loved it.
However there were quite a few bugs as far as I can remember. But mostly crappy AI I think. ^^
I never did any of the expansions so here's my question:

Are there any big changes with the latest patches and expansions?

Also; if I install BI (or Alex) will it be like Medieval 2 Kingdoms as a new campaign or will it actually change your main campaign?
If it's the latter, should I play with BI right from the beginning even if I play as an original roman faction? (Same question for Alex)

Last but not least, weren't the different factions horribly under and overpowered? I remember the Seleucid empire as one of the best. Any of that changed?

Yes, the patches has improved a lot. Many mods are also good, I recommend the SPQR mod with focus on the romans, while not being as overpowered as in real game. There isn't very many that like the expansions better than the vanilla game, so therefore I would recommend to try vanilla first. The selucid empire is a total pushover in vanilla, they always seem to get crushed first (if you're not playing them yourself, because then they are overpowered). Rome is hugely overpowered in every aspect (almost every) and makes the biggest expansion. Egypt is also very powerful.

    Hope this helped.

    Thanks Domitius.

Can you also tell me the biggest changes compared to Medieval 2? It's been so long ago and I've been playing M2 mostly. Is diplomacy completely the same etc?

Last but not least, is there some kind of FAUST/FUSIL for RTW? With all the stats of units of all the factions.

You don't need patches, you have mods!

Or you could just play online. Lots of satisfaction to be had from playing a hard-fought game against a human.
