    Default Please help

Ok so I was in game when a diplomacy screen popped up it said medieval 2 has encountred unspecified error and will now quit. After that whenever I started the game it would do that. When I tried to uninstall it said basically I didn't have directx 9 installed which I did. Anyways I tried restarting the computer and I tried reinstalling but couldn't because I had patch 1.3 installed. After that I deleted all the folders related and did a search including hidden files which came up empty. Then I tried to install it again it still says that patch 1.3 is installed even though its totally deleted I really have no idea what to do. Anyone know of this or what to do?

I don't have the technical expertise to suggest anything else than the time-consuming solution of reinstalling the whole OS (perhaps even reformatting the HD) and thereby lose possibly corrupted files and create a fresh environment, including registry, for your games.

Download yourself a decent registry checker. You have game related orphaned registry entries that are screwing things up.

    "Solved" this by reformatting.

Good news! It suggests that the problem you had might have been related to corrupt files, in which case the only solution may the one you chose.

I just didn't play the game for awhile and then yesterday tried to uninstall it again and it still said I couldn't access certain files so I changed profiles and I found that there were still 20mb of the game left on another profile so I uninstalled on that one and it worked.
