Default EXPORTING A CAS MODEL FROM MAX

Hi, am looking for a bit of advice. I got the weapon swapping and skinning thing sorted out. A bit clumbsy but it works. So i decided to try a dit of modeling. Just somthing simple, putting long sleves on a model to get it converted into an eastern type knight. Imported the model fine, moved about some of the vertex in the editable mesh. (it was actualy the Militia hoplite from the game. Nice and clean, the right shape helmet once the peak was rmoved, easy to convert into a knight with a skin-job.) I tried to get the thing to export, but it keeps coming up that a vertice is not weighted as 1.000. Went into the Weighting Vertices thing, changed it all to 1.000, even more strangely, the particular vertice that was flashed up as wrong, was 1.000. Any help from you chaps out there, very perplexing.

Did you create any new vertices (if so, did you adjust the skin modifer on the body to accomodate this?)?

Hi, i extended the vertices on the arm to make long sleves but they were present on the model anyway. I didn't add any more vertices. Like i wrote i was wanting to keep it simple for a first try at modeling. The only thing i did notice was the CAS file was quite large, perhaps that was causing a prob. What i think i need is to find a step by step tutorial, (Modeling in 3D MAX for the hard of thinking or something). I found it strange that the thing said that the weighting had to be 1 on each bone and when i went to the thing the vertice that it said was causing the problem was 1.000, so i'm not sure at all. I know MAX is quite complex and it will probaly take a few go's before i get it.

    Thanks anyway

I think proffesour 420 videos would help, they are about modeling for Rome total war in 3ds max and can be found here.

Hi guys, got Max 7 to export for me. Imorted a model, altered the mesh, hid the mesh and deleted everything else. Re-imported the first model, deleted it's mesh and unhid the altered one. It then exported fine. There should be a Gothic Knight up in the Skins thing in the next day or two. If it all works out i'll post up a thing for the Virgo Intactus to modeling. Thanks for the pointers, the air was blue with swearing for many a long hour till i got it to work.

Transparent in 3dsmax (i.e. there is no geometry/verts on the side) or transparent when you render it out (i.e. there is geometry but it is made transparent via the texture)? Maybe post a picture?

    Check the alpha channel.

Sometimes if you create geometry ie a plane, and reverse it the game doesn't like it and reverses it back, sometimes it even reverses anything you've attached the plane to.
