    Default Pike and Shot square

Has anyone else used this? I find it very useful in my LAN games with some of my friends, and 2 of them play cav heavy factions. (France and the Mongels, to be specific.) Now, I normmaly play Milan, but I often lost to these players. I switched to Spain, and looking through their unit roster, I noticed "Terico", and it hit me.

The next game I ripped the Mongol player to pieces.

I used a mix of Terico pikemen, musketteers, aque-somethings and sword millita to form my infantry corps, supported by my general and 2 of the best cannon units. (Yes, these are high-point games. ) When he tried to use HA to turn my troops into pincoushins, their low ammo, the cannons, and my musketteers. When their HC got too close, My tericos level their pikes and my musketeers withdraw through the millita.

This still works decently against infantry, however an Enlgand player kicks my ass in this group. How should I alter my formation to deal with ranged heavy armies, and can you think of another way to beat this formation so I can be prepared?

(Note: In this "league" we can only change our unit combo once a week, so I don't care about that as much.)

EDIT: I'm stupid and forgot to acctually put the formation in the post.

its only expected that you will get raked against a longbow-strong army when youre using an anti cavalry formation..

if you find a way to counter both at the same time, all the more power to you.

Doesn't HI rake you to pieces? You have no cavalry...

This formation would be a perfect target for enemy artillery. It would also have a hard time against longbowmen, as mentioned.

I play multi quite a bit now, its very fun. Unlike many of the players in the online who use massed cavalry armies I prefer formation like the pike and musket, with no cavalry whatsoever.

But I prefer the english armies. The combination of billmen, dismounted knights, longbows, cannons, and stakes is utter domination. Although it is purely a defensive formation.

The most difficult thing to create is an effective offensive army. In that case I use Mongols...
