I agree with the above post. That would be cool.

For 3.0: Will there be new units/AOR units? Like for example for Russia and the Vladimir-Suzdal faction and the Kara-Khitai

Will there be crossbowmen for Kara-Khitan Khanate?

Hi, I play this mod together with the new EDU and Karaislam's submod and I wonder if it's normal that almost all of my generals/family members get a trait about going crazy or insane at some point:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I played two campaigns. The Ghaznavids and the Sindh and both are having this problem.
I first found it very funny, but now it's getting a bit annoying to have low authority Faction leaders and bad morale on the battlefield.

Is it a feature of BC to reflect on your playing style or is the heat driving them crazy?

This is a question to Karaislam, actually, so post it in his submod thread. He should know what changes he made to traits and ancillaries.

Having just played S2TW for a bit, which has the luxury of automatic (and conditional) unit replenishment, my main bother with good old M2TW and all its lovely mods is that units have to be manually replenished. This doesn't matter so much with my other favourite TATW which mostly uses culture to regulate recruitment except for the extremely rare elite AOR units, but I can see this being a pain with BC's heavily AOR based recruitment. I daresay the AI will be even less capable of arranging its (re)supply chains. Is there anything that can be done, technically, to simulate replenishment? Otherwise I may face having to modify descr_buildings to remove the AOR and restrict myself by house rules about what to recruit where.

There IS a submod that should allow you to recruit native units anywhere...

That would work of course, but the ideal would combine both the well thought out AOR system and replenishment. I suppose I am hankering after a solution that doesn't exist due to tecnical constraints, but I don't know that much about coding.

Hm, I don't suppose it would be possible to restrict buildings to retrain but not train, for instance by restricting the maximum unit pool to 0.9 outside core regions?

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I like it. Can someone comment on whether that is actually possible. And if so, would the AI also be competent enough to use it?

How do you change the population requirements of cities in BC 2.02? I'm feeling as if population rates are far too slow...

    Grouchio:
    Go to Xsega/Medieval II Total War/broken crescent/data/descr settlement mechanics.xml
It will open in your browser.
Scroll down to the bottom and you will see the population requirements for upgrading your cities/ castles. To actually edit it, you will need to, right mouse click. Next: click on "Display source" or something like that. Now you will be able to change the file, !!! before you do this !!! make a backup!!! Also make sure that you open it as administrator and it isn't marked as read-only. After you editted what you want, save the file. The changes will be visible in a fresh game.

Instead of editting the requirements for upgrading your cities/ castles, I advice to increase the settlement growth. SPF_farms_built is the moddifier for growth caused by upgradable farms. I am not quite sure, but the pip_modifier is that, what you should edit. the castle_modifier is for castles only. Somewhere lower you will find taxes, trade and squalor.

This guide could be of more interest:

Also, can there armor upgrades for units beyond 2.3?

Somewhere in this thread and probably in gamegeek2's EDU thread as well...

What do you need upgrades for, anyway?

To reiterate my thought above as a clear set of questions:

Is it technically feasible to use unit pools of less than 1 in barracks, in order to allow limited retraining but not the recruitment of new units outside core regions? If so, I think that might perfectly combine AOR and replenishment.

If this can be done, are there any other considerations that would make it more or less feasible?

Finally, if it is feasible, would this be something the team would consider implementing in the main mod, or as an optional submod?

for the pelekyphoroi i noticedthat some wield double bitted axes, a fact i find unsettling. since there appears to be no solid proof for double bitted axes, and the only mention of two heads is by constantine for the cavalry.. unless of course you have some contrary evidence.

also maybe introduce better religous buildings for the kypchaks. since you cannot alter the religion in castles at all. and its EXTREMELY hard to do in cities.

So that Toxotai can get better armor, Sindhi and Makuria can armor up their troops (hypothetically) if they grow to be a great power, etc.

I'm not sure about it right now. IIRC sometimes, under conditions unknown to me, there is a possibility of re-training mercenary units in settlements in which you can't obviously recruit them (as they are recruited in the field). I suspect it has something to do with ownership settings, but I'm not really sure. It could be worth investigating.

However, there is simpler way of helping the AI - it's enough to remove AOR restriction from AI recruitment lines in EDB. But then there are accuracy issues activated - I'd prefer not to see 10 companies of KoJ knights appearing just like that in e.g. Afghanistan...

But Toxotai aren't supposed to get better armour, and Sindh and Makuria rosters should be taken as they are. Lightly armoured troops are lightly armoured troops, and heavily armoured troops are heavily armoured troops. That's it. There will be no upgrades in BC.

There are circa 400 new units in BC, and each upgrade requires one unit slot. That would be a waste of space. Keep in mind that 12 new factions are waiting to be added in game and each that faction has to have a roster, right?
