Help!!!

Hello everybody

Please give me some helps...


I am a chinese from HK city. I have been playing the totalwar for about 3 years. Lately, i just bought a new laptop with windows vista for Medieval totalwar. the details of the spec of my laptop are below

CPU: Core 2 Duo T7300 (2 GHz)
2048 MB DDR2 SD Ram (2 Dimm)
NVidia Geforce 8400M GS

I thought everything would be so gd, as I wanted to play a smooth game. Unfortunately, the performance is so bad, I mean it isnt smooth at all. Then again I thought it was due to the higher requirement of M2 TW. So I reinstall the R: TW and patch 1.5 aswell. Then I play everything in the highest setting upon huge scale. (That is the reason why I bought this laptop, because I want something epic). But once again disappointed me. I can see that the performance is just same as my last laptop which I am pretty sure that the spec is worse than my current one.

So I came to find the people who sold the laptop to me and asked them why??Then they told me that it is pretty much related to the window vista as it will slow down the game performance. I am just very confused after that about whether it is really related to Vista??or just laptop is meant to be unworth for a epic battle.(I really dont want to set the scale lower than huge..if i have choic)

And Shall i just install XP instead of Vista as they told me that XP may perform better.

I will be so appreciated if anyone could help me to answer these question.And sorry for my English if that would leads u guys misunderstanding..

My brother works in testing of operating systems for MicroSoft. He was not part of the Vista test team, but he has the inside scoop, which is:

Vista will drive your machine to its knees. At the time it came out, the only thing harder on your machine than Vista was the VERY HIGH END video games. So now YOU have a video game which demands a lot of a computer, running on an OS (Vista) which would make a computer groan just to bring up Mah Jong. Yeah, my guess is that Vista is your problem. Reverting back to XP should solve your problem.

Even on XP, if you are on huge scale AND have everything maxed (grass detail, shadows, etc.) You are asking a lot.

I would love to help but all I can say is that some XP games just aren't compatible with Vista, is why I didn't get it.
