Blank error box when trying to install, please help.

When i try to install Medieval II Total War I get a blank error box after 1 or 2 secs after clicking on install, i dont get any problems with other games and have played ROME and Alexander on the same system fine, it is a fresh install of XP SP2 with all updated drivers, except maybe the sound driver that i currently have no problems with.

The system is an AMD 3500+ 1G Nvidia 6100 256mb.

Can somebody please help, this kinda sux after purchasing and hoping to play right away, pretty soon game devs are gonna expect you to code half the game yourself .

Have you tried to install it on an other computer? If it works there, there's something with your software environment. If it doesn't work, it is more than probable your copy is damaged; take it back to the store you bought it from, and ask for an exchange of the product.

Yeah turns out its a bad dvd 1, has trouble accessing some files, i found this out while trying to copy the files. Its pretty bad when my friend who just d/ls warez has less problems than i do, the amount of dodgy copy protections, bad discs that dont work with certain drives or other problems i have had over the years is ridiculous, plus he does not have to insert the disc because he uses no dvd cracks, which i too have started to use recently, so i dont have to fumble for the discs everytime i want to play a game.

And a friendly advice... Please, don't write you are using no-DVD cracks recently. I agree it is acceptable to use them if you're using an original game to avoid having to use the original discs (this way you can keep them safer), but in the future, don't tell others about it. These boards have a strict no-warez, no-crack, no-<anything rightfully considered illegal> policy. Probably, you won't be harmed now, as you're a newcomer, and it was the first time you wrote about cracks, but maybe your post will be edited.
