How to use BI exe for EB?

This thread should explain how to use BI exe for EB 1 and later versions !

Step One

1. Open Rome - Total War folder
2. Open EB folder
3. Open world/map/campaign folder
4. Rename imperial_campaign into barbarian_invasion
5. Open descr_strat.txt inside the barbarian_invasion folder
6. Find campaign imperial_campaign and change it to campaign barbarian_invasion
7. Save the file and exit the folder/s

Step Two

1. Open text folder
2. Copy and rename imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt into barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
3. Save file
4. Open campaign_descriptions.txt
5. In the notepad (or any text editor) click;
a- edit
b- replace..
c- in Find what: box type IMPERIAL_CAMPAIGN_
d- in Replace with: box type BARBARIAN_INVASION_
6. Save and exit

Step Three

1. On the desktop, right-click on the EB shortcut
2. Left-click properties
3. In the target line, replace RomeTW.exe with RomeTW-BI.exe
* do not replace the whole-line, just the stated words above only.
4. Click apply and exit the box
5. Run the game....

Note: Just to add, this assume that prior to installing EB, you already have RTW and BI installed and patched to v1.6

Thank you so much, I will try to copy EB data into BI folder (but without 1.6 patch.. - does that have to do anything with BE AI - I mean, the 1.6 patch? or does it just change some minor tweaks?)

You still need BI and patch 1.6

Do not put anything inside the bi folder.

I have installed RTW (and 1.3 + 1.5 patches) and BI on top of that and patch 1.6 , and... then I decided to do something little different...

I copy-pasted my EB data folder into BI data (owerwriting everything) and I did that because someone wrote that if you do that - you will be able to play custom battles to --- And the BI gam starts (with EB data) but it fails to load souds - it shows it as an eror. I mean.. wwwhat??Why?
So I delete sound folder and then I copy sound folder from my EB data -- and it still wont work.. why??

Can anyone confirm whether or not the formation mod works with eb 1.0?

I'm using that installer for 1.0 and I didn't get any error messages.

My install steps have been:

1. RTW+BTW Gold (includes patches)
2. Copy folder RTW+BTW Gold
2. EB 1.00 in copied folder, now EB 1.00 folder
3. Ferromancer's EB for BI in EB 1.00 folder

I still get the same Error (see above).

Is there a step missing?

I have a "map.rwm" named "eb_before_bi_map.rwm". Could this be the problem? Do I need another "map.rwm"? No idea?

You're the right person to ask:

The current EB for BI Installer leads for me to a Script Error in eb/data /export_descr_unit.txt, at line 954, column 24.

The message is: Could not find soldier battle model for unit type 'yubtseb elephant gnitekram'.

Question: Is the Error caused by the installer or by a bad install of EB?

Any idea?
My install is RTW+BI Gold (which should include the patches)

When you use the installer you must uncheck the 'enable sheild wall' option.

RTW + BI + RTW 1.6 + EB + this installer w/'enable shieldwall' unchecked

i followed the lestat's steps(EB 1.0). the game runs but i get an inmediate CTD when i load or start a new campaign.

I think you could not start up if you made something wrong in Step 3 and propose you check whether you have really changed all the names in the textfolder from Step 2.

So the BI exe for EB 1 works fine?? Right?
What about --AI_Battle_Formation_Mods-- that are made for previous version of EB (like DARTH) - will they work fine or not ??
I mean, I will post here later when I try it, but I would like to know if anyone made it with no probs..

yep it work just fine on EBv1.0

u have to ask to Lysander on the appropriate thread

but i hope it is compatible bcs darth dark formation is really nice...but first u have to try EBv1.0 new formation...

I used BI for 081, and now with 1.0 the game loads fine, but I cant start the EB campaign. I don't have RTW available as I have lent it to a friend. Anyone know whats wrong? Edit I get an error message at column 1628 line 12 in the descr strat file.

I did not try It, I want to play EB 1 on default just one time,
and, do I did it with EB last version, it should work fine,
TRY and TRY AGAIN - My god, You dont want to wait a day to play EB 1
So try as hell !!!!
