    Default Custom Battle glitch?

Does anyone else have their custom battles, specifically when a settlement is selected, take place on a barren null island? Just a spit of brown land, enough for what ever you designate to be on the map. Units can' route, either.

Only on a few maps does this not happen, but the backdrop selected wont be what appears. :hmmm:

If you've peeked inside the custom map files ( I don't remember off hand what file names they have), you'll notice that they have coordinates relating to a position on the world map. Now, this makes sense, because in the campaign, the game engine generates a map based on the squares on and surrounding the spot in which a battle takes place. It does this same thing for custom battles - however, with TLR, the map has been edited, and not all of these coordinates have been updated to match. I'm not exactly sure how to get map coordinates exactly - but if you wanted a custom battle to take place outside of Jerusalem, all you'd need to do is update the custom map coordinates to match the coordinates on the campaign map, and they'd generate the terrain based on what the campaign map would normally show.

You could potentially, update the 'desert' custom coordinates to those for some square in Ireland, and then every time you loaded that custom map, you'd be greeted with rolling green hills instead of sand dunes. Desert warfare of course would not be much use there, as it would also be quite cold and possibly rainy/snowing.
