A question from someone who doesen't know a thing about modding M2: TW
Greetings, fellow Total War fans! I've never modded Medieval 2 before, to be honest. Still, there is a mod I've always wanted to do for it. I want to change the current missile model files for all crossbow using units in the game , including those in the expansion, and replace them with the crossbow-bolt models from RT: BI. I'm so disturbed by the fact that the Creative Assembly made the crossbowmen in M2: TW fire arrows, instead of bolts. I'd also like to know if it is possible to give the Medieval 2 crossbows the same velocity as the ones in Barbarian Invasion (because it looks more realistic that way). If someone could link a tutorial, or help me in some other way, I'd be forever greatful!

Re: A question from someone who doesen't know a thing about modding M2: TW
about the velocity, I know that
1- go to mof file\data\descr_projectile.txt
find this and....
projectile crossbow_bolt
effect crossbow_arrows_new_set
end_effect bullet_impact_ground_set
end_man_effect man_impact_tiny_set
end_package_effect bullet_impact_wall_set
end_shatter_effect bullet_impact_ground_set
end_shatter_man_effect man_impact_tiny_set
end_shatter_package_effect bullet_impact_wall_set
damage 0
radius 0
mass 0.05
accuracy_vs_units 0.04
min_angle -60
max_angle 30
velocity 40 80
display aimed
effect_only
some mods have complicated projectile system like (projectile crossbow_bolt / projectile peasant_crossbow_bolt / projectile cav_crossbow_bolt / projectile elite_crossbow_bolt / ...) you can find the projectile of units in export_descr_unit.txt - example
type Peasant Crossbowmen
stat_pri 4, 1, peasant_crossbow_bolt, 130, 40, missile, missile_mechanical, piercing, none, 0, 1
stat_pri_attr ap
good luck
