    Default Aztecs??

    I was looking forward conquering the whole world as Aztecs. They are mentioned als playable in the description, but I dont see how to start a campaign with them!

    I'm sorry, that must have been a mistake in the readme.

    They would be a good addition to the Renaissance campaign, so I will look into making them playable.

    SV, Papacy is described as playable too, but it has not specifical Victory Conditions. Is this a mistake?

    I left out the vs's for them, as i also left them out as playable, but the Papacy made it into the mod as playable again for some unknown reason


    Actually, they shouldn't get certain vc's, and they shouldn't be playable imo., just a maintaining faction, but not expanding, and this is what the Papal AI is doing good in my test-campaigns.

    I think the same about the Aztecs in regard of 'conquering the world' with them, that's historical rubbish, and after all, we try to make a historical-realism design. But yes, they can be playable with ie. vc's in America or/and scripted other vc's, but we shouldn't let them recruit oversea ships!

    A VC condition good for Aztecs should be "Resist xx Turns" I guess... or "Obtain a Peace Treaty" against Spain... just to symbolize a resistance to the invasion...

    I forgot I enabled them again. I think most players know they are really enabled just for fun.

    I think the Aztecs VC could be to just survive longer than Spain & Portugal?

    I agree, the Papacy is behaving very well, the way they are.

    I do not play MTW2 to "fullfill" things that happened in history. What I like ist to write my own history. I appreciate much if a mod like this sets a realistic framework but from that starting point I just want to build my own empire (with a somewhat realistic AI). And what I especially like is to play factions which did not survice in history (Moors, Armenia) and change that. Its a game!

    So - the Atzec should of course be able to build high see ships and come to Europa! Thats what I hope for.

    I would prefer to see them hiring mercenary ships, it's the most realistic way to deal with it.

    For that to happen, it would be necessary to rebuild the whole Aztec units, make them build gunpowder units, ride horses and so on... I don't think they could invade europe with bows and arrows...... , don't you think? Not in that age of steel and muskets.

    To have them do such a thing, we could imagine them to have mastered the new technology, or I am mostly agreeing with DV that using the plain aztec units, that comes with the game, and let them storm all europe, is too much a-historical.

    Armenia and Moors had instead more possibilities to "change" history, that's why they are playable and can of course conquer the whole map, but remember that they had the same tech ability of their neighborhoods.

    It's a HUGE difference, imho

    It's your choice, just play as you like, i've absolutely no problem with your approach of your preferred gameplay, but that's not the theme. You might have chosen the wrong mod project though, for your preferences.

    In our mod you won't find Aztecs shipping over to europe (@ SV: i can't and won't agree with such a concept), i won't code something like that and publish that, and actually that would be a shame in my mind, while we try to make things pretty historical in this mod.
    But you can mod such things by yourself for your personal use, that's no problem, and you can get short tips from us, if you need them, to realise such a ahistorical catastrophe, our mod is not Hollywood fantasy

    You are welcome ... just open the world...map...campaign folder and look for the right campaign folder (if Ren camp. then open the custom folder), there look for the descr_merc file, and add mercenary oversea-ships to the american coastal regions merc-pool or create a new one if not already there ... then you are done. Pressumed Aztecs are made playable next release, then you can rock the world with Aztecs, while i think you won't have a chance ... perhaps on Easy/Easy difficulty.
