Family Tree Problem! So frustrating!!

Hi guys, please help

Now this happened a few months back before I patched to 1.2 but now its happening again. Whenever I try to open my Family Tree the game freezes up, I can still hear the music but I have to quit the programme cus its totally frozen. Really frustrating, can anyone help with this?

Also another bug I had recently was where i could get into the Family Tree but there was only two portraits and they were both dead, grayed out pictures. Basically since I got this game I have never been able to see my Family Tree, please help me. Thank you.

Ive had this probelem as well for a while and i can figure it out either! if yo find out pleas e help.

Which faction/campaign are you playing?

You can unpack the files and take a look at desc_strat.txt to see if there is something odd with your faction family tree setup.

I've never noticed any problems with factions I've played in the Grand Campaign (english game version).

Im playing Scotland in Grand Campaign, I also unpacked the files et cetera, but like I said its happened before, I wouldnt know where to start with trying to fix it, that why Ive posted here. I added a few princesses in the family line and gave them, my priest and a few family members extra traits and ancillaries in the desrc_strat file, but ive always mucked about with that; in RTW aswell, I will try to see if not muckin around with it works but I doubt it, adding traits et cetera shouldnt do that, if I did something wrong in that file the game wouldnt even start I dont think. So frustrating, cus Ive never seen the family tree with Medieval II yet.

Try a complete uninstall and reinstall. Try a completely unmodded game with no changes and no unpacking and see if the problem persists.

I suppose ill give it a go and report back here. lol i was just in the middle of creating a vast and unstoppable Caledonian Empire aswell, *sigh* lol!

its cool! I figured it out with the help of another post this is how the spacing should look in all 'relative' lines in the descr_strat file.

"Oh, you might need to be very careful with the spacing, it is:
relative<tab>husbandname,<tab>wifename,<tab><tab>child1name,<tab>child2name,<tab>,child3name,<tab>child4name,<tab>end."
