Default How do I use system.log to find errors?

    01:09:59.296 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/americas/data/export_descr_buildings.txt, at line 805, column 112
    Unexpected in condition parsing: 'recruit_pool'

I get that error when I'm trying to mod new units into the campaign. How do I locate line 805, and what does "unexpected in condition parsing: 'recruit pool'" even mean?

You locate it by using a text editor that displays line numbers or has a goto option.

It probably means that you wrote two recruit pools in one line or something. The condition is what the game expects after the "requires" keyword. If you have that keyword and no condition following it, the game tries to parse the next word and fails.

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

Notepad2 uses line numbers, and is free. Its a straight replacement for Windows Notepad with lots of extra features.

There are lots of other text editors out there that are better than Notepad, try a few and pick the one you like best.

I personally like to use UltraEdit (even made a wordfile for M2TW script highlighting)
