    Icon9 Too "romanized"

Yes, after finished my last campaign I decided to play other factions but I got my ass kicked pretty soon either as Parthian, Macedonian, Dacian and Pontus . I realized that after 2 and a half months with RS i had only played the roman faction. Nevermind, I'm gonna start another GC with Roma, this time on V/vh and see what happens

Well, i'm not a pro at this game but started a campaign with Greece and i'm kicking arse and takin' names! Just started and i took sparta, corinth (backastabbing macedons!) and another settlement of their's (can't remember the name but that little island to the right of greek cities) Am currently in year 246 BC (building up my armies). Those spartans gave me a hell of a fight, i outnumbered them by twice their numbers(3000 for me and 1400 for them) during the siege and after I was left with 2 units and they still had 18 men.

I'm playing with the GC a week now. The only problem i have are the Seleucids, they're kicking my ass. But i already destroyed macedonia and Epiros.

@El invasor: You mean the island Chalcis?

Yeah, Chalcis. Everything is lookin pretty good and planning to use my spartan hoplites to do some serious damage to those damn macedons. Wierd thing is i have 3 roman diplomats outside of Corinth and it looks like they want to talk or something all during rome's turn but nothin happens. A little odd :hmmm:

When nothing happens, but you see a diplomat talk during the other factions turns, they're trying to bribe the city.

Oh, and i'm not getting my ass kicked either (Aristides can back me up on this one), I currently control an 80-region empire, with romans, macedon, epirus, syracusae, bosporans and pergamon wiped out (and before I defeated them, the romans were losing the war against the gauls)

Last time i played the Seleucids i took out everything in the east only to find Rome took out everything in the west, the fight was an endless back and fourth push which eventualy ended in my sending a large army to the tip of Italy and taking our Rome.

I have a Parthian Empire that stretches from India to Asia Minor, I've killed the Seleucids and Pontiacs and am about to start working on the Ptolemies and Perganeums.
Don't see how it's "too Romanized"...then again, I haven't fought Roman legions yet.

I'm playing the GCS right now and I'm kicking macedons butt, I take an average of 1 city per turn from them its awesom.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

A few monthes ago, when the memory on my vid card fried on my new pc. I started a campaign with the Parthians on my old box (gotta keep that "fix" coming in...hehe). I found them the most frightening army I have ever seen. I had only 2 full stacks, all cavalry...mostly the basic mounted archer type, forget the name and some cataphracts and heavier cavalry. Only infantry I used was cheap garrision stuff to, well, garrision cities. Well, I didn't much care about campaign, I knew new vid card was on the way, so only played a few times over a week or so. I was running my 2 full mounted armies "willy nilly" into whomever I could find, attacking constantly. They completely owned the Seleucids, it wasn't even close. Also easily crushed a couple Sarmatian stacks. My basic army was...

    1 General
4 Cataphracts (sort of my battle line)
4 "Saber" cavalry (or something like that, as flank troops...they were mediums of some sort, maybe persian sabers...can't recall)
11 of the "basic" mounted archers (can't recall their name either...)

I would defeat multiple 4000+ man seleucid armies one after another, it was sorta scary. Makes me nervious to know my Romans have to face them eventually .
