    Default Mongol masks.

    To summarize the question, should I get rid of the face masks some of the Mongols wear for my skinpack here?:

    I tried that, it doesn't work like it did in Medieval 2. You delete the section and save it with DXT 5 and instead of like in Rome, where it alphas out that part, it just shows up as solid gray.

    EDIT: Tried it with a different technique and it works now, but you still get a little white line that shows up from most angles, would you guys be fine with that?


    EDIT II: I also noticed that as you zoom out more of the helmet becomes visible, though it's untextured and weird:

    So, should I remove it?

    You could always modify the mesh and remove the mask. I'll be happy to do it for you if you choose to go that route but other than that I don't see anyway of fixing it (though I'm no skinner so I'd wait till someone more proficient comes walking about).

    I would leave masks on some of the armor upgrades or higher tier units, but most of it could go. I think it looks fine without them.

    Er... it might seem like a bit much to do it. You'd have to do all of the ug1 mongol mesh files in the as_lamellar_heavy folder. :hmmm:I suppose you could just do the higher detailed ones then we could just not use the lower detailed ones.

    Well all I'm doing is deleting the mask so it wouldn't be that big of a problem. I'll take a look tomorrow and see exactly how the mask is arranged (I'm not sure if its combined to the face or if its a seperate group).

    I'll post something tomorrow after school for you Kalos.

    If i vote no does it mean that there is a possibility that the Masks might be removed through editing the models? Or is it keep the masks?

    No problem Kalos. But I'll have to post up my results tomorrow as I've had something personal come up today (might be tomorrow too so no guarentees) but I will get something, I assure, to you by the end of the week.

    Well I opened up the Mongol model for Heavy Archers and removed the masks for the helmets that had them as shown here:



    I didn't remove the face from two of the helmets as I'm thinking those are actually faces not masks since if I removed those then the regular head models wouldn't fit on those helmets. But what do you think Kalos?

    Since my time is constricted between RL and WotN I'm only going to modify the lod0 files but when I get some time I'll work on the other lods too.

    Those 2 you didn't edit are masks, the face shows up underneath when you alpha it out so I'm sure you can get rid of them. And thanks alot Space, looks great!

    Alright I'll get rid of those masks too. I'm writing some essays right now but I'll work on these masks throughout the week and hopefully finish it by either this weekend (yay 3 day weekend) or early next week.

    Btw, I noticed you wanted the lances to be remodelled. If you post up some artwork, I can model that up quickly for you too.
