    Default strange unit stats

im playin as france so dunno if that makes any difference but look at the difference between the stats of dismounted mailed knights to other units.

the knights stats are far inferior to other units yet they are a lot more expensive for cost and upkeep! dunno if u were aware of that.

I saw that a lot of units are far away from balancing.. For example "Venetian Heavy Infantry" are one of the strongest dismounted unit and their cost is damned low.. As the upkeep for a lot of units.. If socal_infidel agree i'll work a bit on balancing all unit stats and costs (EDU), starting from Real Combat 1.3 (i'm almost sure that he will release the 1.4 when i'll finishing my work ).

Playing with numerous factions now, on Real Combat, I've noticed that the 'Local Militia' cost the same as 'Spear Militia', and have the same upkeep. But their stats are not the same! Spear militia are better.

So I looked in descr unit (or whichever it is) and looked to see if maybe there was some other difference in one of the 'hidden' traits like training or 'mental'. Nope.

I changed the local militia from '180/175' to 105/115. With a starting attack point of '1', i figured that was only fair. Now I am stuck with far overvalued peasants, and feel I will have to work over the entire descr unit file, for every faction, to balance and figure out how it all works.

I also don't want the AI going nuts on cheap but relatively weak units, but my understanding is that it has been programmed to defer to stronger units with the improvements to AI.

Some differences in cost are justifiable, even if immediately not visible. I mentioned 'hidden traits' which don't show up on their card, but can be seen in descr unit.

For example, with the Empire of the Greeks, they field two kinds of swordsmen right away, that have the same stats, but one costs more. Turns out that the one that costs more is worth it later on.

I'll have a closer look at unit stats/cost once I get finished with all of the new units. Thanks for raising the issue!

If Social Infidel will permit me to add something here, in latest version of RC Town Militia have attack 3, light spear. Spear Militia have attack 4, spear, which is actually a worse weapon versus infantry, but better versus cavalry. They both certainly destroy peasants.
