Default America has too much liberty

You know what really grind my gears?

The fact that America has way too much liberty. Come on, this whole Freedom of Speech thing is gone way too far. How the hell is society supposed to work if we keep this up? We're going to have idiots speaking their mind and then it will lead to total chaos, people may even get offended.

We all know that controversial speech should be made illegal, for it solves no purpose whatsoever and may offend people. And once people get offended freedom has gone way too far. For peoples feelings are worth far more than any sort of selfish thing such as freedom.

Punish thoughtcrime too! Those haters will spread their intolerance and bigotry through thinking before we know it.

Certain clothes are banned in some cities, I believe several in Georgia have bans on baggy pants that show the underwear at the top for instance.

Definitely, and while we're at it, we should outlaw speech itself - after all, very few people can be offended by silence

I'll bet you that women could get offended by silence, if the silent one was a guy ...

Man, I didn't think this post was obvious enough for this forum.
The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State. - James Madison

I also think hot dogs, baseball and apple pie need to be outlawed.
"There is a difference between what is wrong and what is evil. Evil is committed when clarity is taken away from what is clearly wrong, allowing wrong to be seen as less wrong, excusable, right, or an obligatory commandment of the Lord God Almighty.

Evil is bad sold as good, wrong sold as right, injustice sold as justice. Like the coat of a virus, a thin veil of right can disguise enormous wrong and confer an ability to infect others."

    Ban forums too!
Only bad things can happen when certain 'doubtable thinkers' start to discuss their ideas. They may even brainwash others into their pitiful mindset.

I enjoy being a Beta. I wouldn't want all the hard work that the Alphas have to do, or the monotony of the Deltas.

    There was no hijack here.

It's the thought that counts though.

I cringe every time I hear someone (On Fox News) say, "Free Speech or Hate Speech?"

Oh. My. God. The person who invented that should be shot.

I agree with the original poster somewhat. Really, I think the American people should be more grateful and content with what freedoms we have, some people, you know....they just want to upgrade their freedoms further than necessary. I enjoy the rights that our constituition has given us, but people should be grateful that we live in a polity/democracy/republic, we are much better off than many people in countries like North Korea, China, India, and so on. I almost feel embaressed that some of my countrymen are protesting certain petty taxes, against a tree being cut down, or are protesting against other minor problems in general. We as a whole have become too soft, we still of course need our freedoms, but put up with these petty problems, and focus on the big picture.

To sum up my post, focus on the larger problems, and have a passive attitude towards much of the smaller stuff. There are more important things in life than protesting the removal of a tree, or about a very slight raise in taxes.

I think there should be a mandatory knock on the head test before someone gets to speak in public, if it's hollow they have to shut up.

    Soft?

No, the socialist jackoffs are the soft ones. They're the bleeding hearts.

    Not us.
