Default New export_descr_Unit file and tweaked Descr_Strat

Put this together as I was tired of fights being too easy, buffed the defences of the units and increased some units morale.

I based this file on a number of EDUs (not sure if that is the correct name) kicking about, pinching what I liked and mixing it with some of my own additions.

A good number of ideas did come from darth mods work and I cannot claim any credit for those bits. However, as I was writing it to work with darth's mod that should be no surprise.

Do you have a config_ai_battle file or whatever it's called that works with Condo's other files?

    anyone tried this yet? Feedback?

I will give some, I have found that with this the AI forces have been giving me a hard time as Byzantium. For the first time EVER I have had to withdraw back from a defensive position in order to keep my military alive and to enable me to hopefully hold against the onslaught.

I have been in several battles where my armies have been outclassed by smaller AI armies and have won only by the skin of my teeth.

Can't say it is all the unit revisions doing as Condo's Battle AI has kept me on my toes, while the AI's units have just been that bit better than mine.

As I just finished the file last night this is as much a learning experience for me as it is for anyone who gives the file a try.

I'll give it a try terralax and hopefully be able to comment later today or more likely tomorrow.

Looking forward to your retrofit, darth + TLR combo!

I also played around with the AI build priorities in order to try and stimulate different army types, and altered the king's purse and starting money (this part is just a modified version of the figures that Condo produced that have been tweaked a little)

I have been readjusting the morale figures of many units in the roster.

Here is a list of changes:

Mercenary Units Morale is not as good comparatively as regular units. On the whole mercenaries work for money and their loyalty is to themselves. In other words, the Merc stats have not been adjusted to any great extent.

Muslim Units Fanatical muslim units have had their morale boosted and breaking them should be more difficult. This should make Jihads more challenging.

Crusader Units Morale has also been boosted on these units, not as much as the muslim units though..save for the more fire and brimstone types.

In testing, using the files produced by Condo which if you like could be traded virtually same for same with DarthMod, I have lost a number of battles that I would have won with easy before these updates. As Byzantium, which was defended by a well trained and equipped army, I barely held on to my capital against one full stack turk army (I had 10 soldiers left).

To do: Adding Laca's Byzantium Heavy spear unit.
Possibly adding gunpowder units for Byzantium.

Very cool. My only holdup, unfortunately, is that I don't agree with Darth's 'uber pikemen' that use the pike even when toe-to-toe with other units. =(

Is there a way I could use your file without that change? i.e. what would I have to change back?

Also, is this useable with Condo's updated files? (just drop it in?)

Sorry for so many questions, thanks Terralax

yes, it can be used with condo's updated files as that is what I am doing.

As for the pikes, it would have to be changed back in the file..simple to do with a program like File Compare tools. http://www.newfreedownloads.com/find/file-compare.html

All you do the is use find to get to each pike entry and substitute the weapon lines from the original TLR EDU into the new EDU.

Testing the pikes to see if they are imbalanced and if so I will change them back.

I both agree and disagree with the 'uber' pikemen. On one hand, it is absurd they would ever break their phalanx and engage unless the enemy was behind, beside, or already within their ranks. On the other hand, the pikes generally do a lot more damage, and are unfair when the unit does actually get within the range of the pikes.

Personally, I think I'd rather have the pikemen better than they should be, than simply being retarded and dropping their pikes to engage in chaotic melee.
