    Default Cool non-fiction books

Hi guys, i thought this being a history based board, wed have a thread about your favorite non-fiction history books, or just cool non-fiction books about anything that you liked and why you liked them.

For me it'd have to be "Ghengis khan and the making of the modern world" by Jack weatherford. I loved that book because of how it wasnt just facts thrown together but rather a story of Ghengis' life and struggles, it really made every page come alive in my head as i read it, i especially loved the first couple of pages about his conquest of a Persian citadel. The images in my mind were million times better than any movie.

I'd have to go with "The Fall of the Roman Empire: A New History of Rome and the Barbarians" by Peter Heather. Brilliant, detailed, and most importantly accessible book.
Also, "Genghis Khan: Life Death and Resurrection" by John Man and the follow-up, "Kublai Khan: The Mongol King who Remade China". The author has a real knack for vividly explaining history and tying it to its repercussions on today. Plus he knows his subject insanely well.

I highly suggest "Persian Fire" by Tom Holland. I recently finished reading it, and it's very educational as well as entertaining.
