Default Ironman too much? - try hardcore

For those that comment that ironman is too restrictive, that is it's purpose, just growing with all those rules is a challange, but here is a reduced set of rules that I would propose as the hardcore gamer way.

Not ironman, but still evens the field:

    1) No reloads, exploits or pause allowed. Play on H/VH or VH/VH

    2) 10 turn quiet period at the beginning and no blitz of the rebels. Take one rebel settlement, the rest are for the AI.

    3) Autoresolve all seiges of the AI against you, the AI is incapable of fighting this scenario.

    4) Autoresolve all captain led battles. You are your generals.

    5) No Pillage or exterminate after capturing a town. If it rebels, you did not prepare well enough and deserve to loose it.

    Have fun!

3 and 5 are very interesting, in my opinion.

    3) Yes, it's true. I usually can't resist defending cities when I'm outnumbered and auto-resolve will clearly result in losing the city, but you are right.

    5) This one is good because it makes your attack much slower, as you will need to keep a garrison (and sometimes a good general) in the city to make sure it doesn't rebel, at least for a few turns.

The other ones are good rules as well, but I personally like fighting captain battles. There is also something interesting to note here: captains don't have commands stars, and therefore your battles will be much harder. I don't see the point in fighting with generals only, as they only make your game easier.

And only with captains will you get Man of the Hour.

Victory is so much more rewarding when snatched from the jaws of defeat!

Leave all recruitment and construction strictly on automanage unless there is a governor present, just have to hope they build and recruit in a useful way.

this is all rubbish and against human intelligence

to all AI: you will never ever reach our capacities

it is absolutely stupid to conquer a city with more than 20000 inhabtitans and to thinks if you only conver or plunder there will be no revolution after.
You may need a 10star general with authority of 10 points.
If the faction of the cit y is reach just leave the city after plundering and let it trigger to rebellion. When retaken by the enemy abck you will conquer another time and take a sceond time the money of plundering.
Is is waste of time to control revolution.

don't loose sight of the goal here. Naturally you cannot hold a settlement of 20000 that is against your religion on the first try. Nor should you be able to.

You can not exterminate, but you can bring priests, spys, and a big garrison. And after it rebels, you can try again. Much harder, much more fun, hardcore.
