    Default Editting Kingdoms .strings.bin

I posted the same question over a week ago and go no answer and thought I would post here. I am not able to save any changes in the Crusades historical events file to allow me to create a new event. Has anyone got the file successfully editted and a new historic event into the Crusades or other kingdoms mods?

It won't let you save the file or you can save the file but the changes don't appear in your game?

If it's the first one are you using Vista, do you have permission to edit the file (are you Admin on the pc), is the file "read only" (right click file and click Properties to see if it is check "read only").

You have converted the .bin file to .txt yes?

I do not convert the file to .txt. When I made the change and save it, I re-open the file and the new line does not exist. The file is not read only and I have XP. I followed this tutorial:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ight=new+event

    but my game crashes.

The second step in there is to convert the bin file to txt using the converter in the link provided.

Then you delete the bin fall and edit the txt file.

The game will create a new bin file from your edited txt file the next time you start.

I read that Kingdoms does not re-create the .bin files.

It created all mine just 10 seconds ago when I tried it!

I deleted all the bin files in my mod directory and restarted the game.

I checked the mod folder and all my bins are back again!

    That was Brittania.

Though I've tried it on the main campaign using Retrofit too and it works.

Can you try it with crusades, because no new files are created. Can you post what steps you did to make the mod and make the changes?

For some people it looks like the .bin files won't regenerate with the changes unless they are in the same folder as the corresponding text files

So I should unpack all the data/text files, convert them to .txt make my changes in the .txt files, then run the game and the .bin files will be replaced? I will play with the Britianna campaign tonight.
