    Default Diplomacy: Is this suppose to work like this?

    well, hi, i'm new to the forum, though i've been playing M2 TW for some time.

    I just found out by sheer luck that there's a very EASY way of maintaining 'perfect' relations with all factions as long as you can get a diplomat to do talks every few turns. This is how:

    =============================
    You offer
    Attack faction (rebels preferably)
    AND
    either a lot of gold (10 000+)
    or
    a lot of land (as many as you can check)

    and DO NOT ask anything from them.

    then offer it to the ai.
    =============================
    They will NOT accept it (unless you have a very good reputation) BUT they will be pleased.

    Do this over and over until you get 'Perfect' relations (it also works for cross-points with pope, go talk to papacy)

    i guess it's sort of cheating..but useful in emergency situations..

    has anybody noticed this?

    What if they accept all the lands you offered?

    well, they haven't accepted my offer, yet.

    just a reminder, IF you guys ASK them for something (eg: map info) they'll probably AGREE, and there goes your kingdom /treasury.

    Well, they will obviously be happy since you keep offering them money.
    Who wouldn't be?

    But giving money and land away just for better relations is not really worth it. They might end up backstabbing you in the end like what happened to me and a couple of other factions.

    You can do this, but it's not conducive to a fun game.

    A just rejected diplomatic offer improves relations marginally for some bazaar reason. It also allows diplomacy offers to continue rather than stop altogether after the first just rejected offer. This is our improved diplomacy that came with patch 1.2.

    Just another bug! One of many. You can play a game in the style of merchant fortress exploit, or ignore them (exploits) altogether.

    I often noticed that in peace negotiations the AI acts quite weird. When I offer a ceasefire the first time it is demanding and is rejected. The priorities are unknown.
    After the rejection the priorities change to Peace and when I make the same offer again it is now generous.

    And not only that but you can get a bundle of cash from the AI for proposing/accepting the ceasfire. Just keep playing around with the demanded amounts or settlements until the proposal balance is 'balanced' rather than generous and hey presto - a big payoff to you for a ceasefire.

    I like doing this against factions that do that stupid blockadeport thing
    (when they accidentally declare war then ask for ceasefire next turn).

    usually its weaker factions that do it and theyre willing to give up thousands of flourins and a few territories to get that ceasefire for the war they started with a cog.

    it's their own fault!

    It's indeed not good for a fair, challenging game. But it can be usefull indeed. I just tested it and it does work. In fact, once they declined my offer my relations with them went up and they offered me 1180 florins.... Wonderful vanilla AI *sigh*. Back to SS or LTC for me.
