How to crush Mongols completely ?

Hi @ all,

since this is my first post. Here a little summary of what I did so far.
I play as the English, and of course have all of Britian and the most of modern France under my control.

I then started crusading a lot, because I always used to fight my way through Europe but this time I wanted to start with the Holy Land and tried to be a good christian for once

So far so good. I got Jerusalem, Gaza, Alexandria and 2-3 other cities (can't remember the names) under my control. Since I took them in the very beginning of the game I got them all to be catholic at around 85% and build them up to quite big cities.

I then got the message that the Mongols arrived. Because Antioch was still a rebel city, they took it as their capital. Because I'm best friends with the pope

(who is english of course) I started crusading against them immediately. So I took their only city, and killed all of there family members before they could get another city. But even though there are no Mongol armies left, they still come up as a faction when I end turn and I didn't receive the "destroyed faction" message. I looked through the whole map, even checked with the toggle_fog cheat if they are still around but they are not.

So is that just a bug or do they keep respawning until a certain age ?

They can't be destroyed. They will keep coming. best just letting them settle in a weak town and keep an eye on them.

they´re a real pain at me, I´m playing with the templars so my regions are catholic and they keep sieging a city and when they took it, it will revolt cause of the religion penalty they get and then they will move on to a next city.

Here is a little reason why they can't be destroyed in the middle east.

Less than 100 Turns and they Pretty much took over the world

I bet they used the Auto_win attacker cheat.

They spawn three times. Each time they have 3 to 5 stacks. If they take a city and lose it, they will become a horde again provided they have a family member left. After you destroy the first wave you should see a message: Faction destroyed. Since you have claimed that you have destroyed all the family members, there should be two options: 1. it is a bug, 2. the second wave did spawn, but is still out of sight. When they arrive near Yerevan, it takes a while for them to enter the map.

@Monsieur Alphonse : So there are 2 more waves to go? Nice to know so I can build up my forces again.

Actually I have to say it was good fun when they first came. Because I have no wars in Europe and Egypt and the Turks are almost gone, I can totally concentrate on chasing the Mongols

back on topic: i have destroyed mongols and timurids many times .... usually using more armies then they .... i think i have a screen when i surrouded about 15 full stuck armies with 23 mine full stucks .... it was really massive project, but since i have contorled the whole europe i was able to do so .... also i use assasins and spies to find and destory family members and generals!

In Stainless Steel, where you can select the two different Russian Factions (Kiev and Novgorod). Isn't there only the Timurids, the Mongols have been combined with the Timurids.

And in saying that there isn't the option to fight the Americas.

I'm only assuming this due to the custom battle faction selection screen, no Aztecs and Timurids and Mongols are combined?

The Aztecs, Timurids and Mongols are still there in the campaign.

You don't see them on the custom battle screen because KK took them out to make room for Aragon, Kievan Rus and Templars in custom battle. I think theres a hardcoded limit for factions in custom battle.

In short, they are in the campaign, but not in custom battle.

I'm playing as the turks at the moment and seemed to have avoided conflict with the Great Khans.

I used 4 full stacks (nothing special just azabs, spear militia, horse archers), positioned 2 on the hill south west of where the mongols appeared (to cut off the approach to Baghdad) and 2 south east of Tblisi (on a hill next to the forests where the mongols have to approach one army at the time) with one army behind the other. So all routes to my cities were cut off.

The mongols headed north (each time they spawned) through the pass into Khazar. I placed forts on the other three routes into Turkey from Khazar just in case. Currently the Mongols are holding ass-handing ceremonies for the Poles, Hungarians and Russians (who were being quite nasty to me).

I'm playing VH/VH. Dont know if i got lucky. Dont know if the Timurlane will be so convienient. I did know when the Mongols were coming so prepared for them. I guess this could be considered a cheat because of it? I would put up a screenshot if someone tells me how.

I also hated how I accidenatlly read about the Mongols and Timurids. But in reality, you would've heard about them in real life before they attacked.

A faction that large gets talked about.
