HELP to i need a new monitor

i just got a new computer with a old monitor it is from dimension 3000 i didnt know what kind of monitor that is but when i plug it into the VGA adapter it doesn't come on it stay blank

do i need a new monitor and how do i know if my computer has this VGA thing

Just get a VGA to DVI converter. Shouldn't cost more then 5 dollars...they should come with any decent video card.

You said you plugged it in, so you must have VGA. VGA ports are usually blue, DVI is white and slightly longer in width then VGA ports.

If it still wont display it's probably something else at fault.

Does the monitor support the current screen settings? Try setting your graphics card to less resolution and color and check what happens...
