Raiders of the North

Long time ago the Vikings had the Kingdoms of Brittania under their dominance. These days not even a single city on the main islands of Brittania remain loyal to us, the great Norwegians, who are the proud descendants of the Vikings. Soon we will once again take control and make way for a new Kingdom. A kingdom, which will rule Brittania as one land.

Our current situation is not a good one. It will take hard fighting and stubborn hearts to change the course onto the path to greatness.


Our family is only weakly represented in the British Isles. Our great King Haakon has not yet arrived in these lands, but remains in Norway.

Seizing the opportunity before others seize us is crucial. Therefore Prince Magnus rallies the army on the Isle of Man and attack Ireland, which currently lies divided between free Irish and the dominant force of England.

After a long fight the Norwegian raiders finally come out of the struggle victorious.

Shortly after Prince Magnus lay siege to the Irish town of Downpatrick.

In the meanwhile at Wick a mighty army has arrived from the Norwegian held Islands to the West.

Things are starting to look good for the Norwegians, but just as the Prince is beginning to feel relaxed about the situation, rumours reach his ears of a Scottish attack on Arran and the heroic fighting there.

Scots are on the retreat.

Victory.

This brutal attack on a small village will not go unpunished and already a counter respons is being sent towards the city of Inverness.


If this is geting well-received I will go on. (Hard to make it like the last one -linked in the sig -, since I can't get the cin-ed to function with the kingdoms' campaigns)

The army under the command of General Haldor of Vikhus and Gellir Hvass now lay siege to Iverness. The Scots, however, disrepect our might and choose to do nothing. Iverness falls without a fight. Cowards!

To the South. At the Scottish capital of Perth King Haakon has just arrived with a large army partly consisting of the brave and well-trained soldiers from the island of Gotland in the Baltic. The King waste no time, but attack the city, which is only being defended by the Scottish Royal Guards and the Scottish King.

The Gotland Footmen march towards the walls of Iverness.

The walls fall upon our might.

In the city centre our great forces encounter the Scottish King and charge upon him.

Cutting down Knight by Knight in a bloody fury.

Great! The Scottish King Alexander lies dead upon our might.

Perth is conquered. At this moment every looks like victory over Scotland is within our grasp, but that is only before two major tragedies strike,


but not everything is going all bad. A fierce enemy has left for the Holy Lands.

In the meantime in the Emerald isle the Irishmen are getting increasingly angry toward our present.


At Iverness a Scottish army is spotted by our spies. The Northern bridge is quickly made into a well defended borderline.

Even further tragedy is upon us.

We need money. Lots of them. General Lars Masson, who has just taken up the command of the old King's army, has layed siege to Stirling in order gain the spoils of war. Not long does the siege last before the Scots take up the sword and attack.

Our cavalry consisting of Svenners, Huscarls and the Royal Guards charge in from the sides.

Victory over the Scots are undeniable.

Though our coffins are low we still hold a dominant position toward our neighbours.

A great update. Btw there were quite a lot of units in your last battle. Did you play without lag? If so what's your computers config?

Probably just my extra graphic card providing my pc with enough power to have lagless battles(was quite laggy before I got it to be honest). The army size setting is set at huge. The battle was fought at a low speed so I had time to take some shots, since you only get one chance for a great picture

Even though, large armies at large cities/citadals are still a pain in the rear with just too much lag, but so far the Scots are running around the Highlands and Lowlands in large armies, so I dont have to fight them in large settlements yet.

Oh forgot. At the last battle the Scottish reinforcements were delayed due to the computer config not being good enough, but they did came in series throughout the battle.

i only lose (sometimes) when im laying siege to a castle or a big city

and almost none in a normal battle

Doing it on H/H. I got an idea that diplomacy is quite screwed up at VH and pointless (although, the actions so far hasnt quite good in diplomacy - war against England, Scotland and Ireland - two I attacked myself, ofcource)

I need to be seriously underdog to lose on the open field, but I seem to be not grapping the grip around a successful siege (as the attacker). By succesful I mean without too many losses, but I still win. In siege defence I think the Arran battle sets the standard quite well

Stepwise.

1. I use PrintScreen to take the pictures ingame, which stores them in the tgas file in the Medieval 2 folder
2. I then open the pictures with a program called IrfanView so I have the right filetype, and then I can start uploading them to the internet.
3. I upload the pictures onto www.photobucket.com
4. In order to show them like the ones here you need to pick the IMG code line under each picture, instead of the HTML tag, Direct Link or Email and IM.
