Default slowness of M2TW on my laptop

    hi all,

i bought a new laptop last week that has a 120GB hard drive with 2GB of RAM. I've installed M2TW and Kingdoms and had no problem installing them.

The campaign map runs smoothly. The problem is when i am playing a battle. It is never free flowing and causes major problems when i'm trying to control the army.

I have turned the resolution down low but the problem is still there. Do any of ye have any ideas how i can speed up the battle map?

While the campaign map takes a lot of computational power to calculate all the moves and stuff, battles are very taxing on your graphics card. Your PC needs to manage all of those individual 3d models, despite what the setting is. Laptops aren't necessarily known for their graphics power, so a lot of people run into gaming problems.

Though it's not a solution, I echo concern here, it's likely your graphics card can't handle the load.

I'd suggest auto-resolve your battles. Heh, could add a new layer of difficulty as you get perpetually raped by the AI decisions.

Well, while my PC spec has always been able to handle the game, for some reason I used to lag quite badly in battles. When I click the auto-detect button in the graphics options it turns everything on and at high level, apart from the anti-aliasing. I found that the easiest way to combat lag is to switch bloom and reflections off. After I did that the battles ran totally smooth, with all high settings.

Hope it works, and best of luck trying to fix it.
    I love you all!

Try turning off the shadows, it was a HUGE difference by me.

That's a crappy computer for M2TW. The processor is too slow to run smoothly (unless perhaps on small unit size) and there is no graphics card (you have integrated graphics) so in other words, you'll probably be stuck with lag problems with this game.
