"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
- Flavius Vegetius Renatus (in Epitoma Rei Militari, ca. 390)
So old news...
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.
My parents aren't so angry, I think my pops a little disapointed but Ive never encountered something like this.
That is really sad. I think this is how my girlfriend's parents would act though, they are like crazy religious catholics (the kind that would do this type of stuff).
The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days...
Under the perspicacious and benevolent patronage of the great and honorable Rez and a member of S.I.N
He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.
Is America generally very religious?
I could never see that happening here in England. Not these days.
That type of religious fervor is not representative of our country as a whole, and it is hardly in the media. Some Evangelical types will feel that way, no matter what country they are from.
I laughed at the "You'll get nothing for Christmas" bit.
I'm an atheist, one of my brothers is an atheist, and my family knows this. They don't criticize us about it, and we still receive gifts. Christmas, to us, is a time for the family to be together and give gifts to express our love for each other, we don't sing Christmas Carols or talk about Jesus.
I believe that is how it is in most American homes.

my freinds and family in england dont really care as really if most of them thought about it they are too anyway england tends to be very secular compared to the usa and i think its better....
Because this American family is upset with the choice of one of them to reject their faith, that means it is representative of Americans? She's not prohibiting a non-Christian to enter her house because of their faith. That video also doesn't tell us what happened afterwards. Perhaps the parents understood the child's choice and gave him presents anyway? (It could happen.)
The United States is more secular than England in that there is no Church of America that is endorsed by the government.
It would be more fair to say that there are more religious-types in America.
Do people so retarded actually exist?
I'm starting to doubt God's perfection. Or maybe He just likes to torture his toys...
Well, in fairness to the crazy mother, if one actually believes all the stuff in the Bible, then she has no choice to believe that as long as he's an atheist her son is going to hell.
I can only imagine that is rather unsettling.
Of course the problem there is a belief system that preaches that people who don't believe it are to be punished for eternity.
If he suspected his mother would react that way, he frankly should have never told her.
