    Default Genetics and the effects of the father.

    A couple days ago, I compiled a list of which traits from fathers have an effect on the son's traits, by looking in the file "export_descr_characters_traits". I also decided if the effects of the father's traits were good or bad. Sometimes, it would have a chance of giving the child a good and bad trait, or the trait that it gives has negative and positive effects. For that reason, realize that for some of these traits, like the ones where I say "pretty good" or "pretty bad", that's my opinion. This is the list of which traits for a father have an effect on the son, if it says "good" that means it has a positive effect on the son:

    Realize that not all of these traits from the father give the son the direct trait. For example, if a boy has a "coward" father, he has a better chance of being brave. That's why it's good to have cowards as fathers. I did not add a few traits that are limited to Romans, because I am playing as Carthage and it's no use to me. I hope some of you find this useful, and feel free to correct any mistakes I may have made.

    lol i think its cool tho that CA have added this feature to Rome. Instead of having people that are completely different always, it makes the family better that sons can inherit traits and atributes.

    Haha! i try to keep my family 'Pure Blood'. lol no adopted generals as faction leaders and heirs.

    Strange, I love to bring new blood into my family (unless my family is already perfect). From now on, I am going to create the perfect blood line... Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha. Anyone with a trait bad for genetics will not be allowed to have children. Anyone know the qualifications for having children? Is it just marriage and being inside a settlement? Or do they need all of their movement points, too?

    I'm also trying to create a family with a pure bloodline now. Kind of hard though.

    Strange, I love to bring new blood into my family (unless my family is already perfect). From now on, I am going to create the perfect blood line... Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha. Anyone with a trait bad for genetics will not be allowed to have children. Anyone know the qualifications for having children? Is it just marriage and being inside a settlement?     Lol yeh it is cool having a pure blood line. Direct decendants . Lol but i dont know if u have to do certain things to make them have babies. But some generals have a trait that they have more children if they are in their home town, but other than that i dont know.

    Lo yeh it is quite hard. You just got to stick to one side of the family and have to keep checking it because rome will auto assign heirs.

    Yea, but it's not a very big problem to reassign someone as a heir. The only bad thing is that the character who was chosen not to be a heir will get -1 influence. I think that's a nice price to pay for having someone else as faction leader later on.

    Very useful list. If I get a hopelessly bad character, I often send him to skirmish with full stacks. Now I know what to look out for I always try to keep a direct bloodine from my faction leader, always going to the oldest son. If there isn't any son, I go for the brother.
    Asking for rep is a sure fire way to not receive any, at least from this old cynic.

    Yep. I, too used to send off generals with horrible traits. But it turns out those generals can actually be good fathers, depending on their traits. Surprisingly, insanity of the father has no effect on the son.

    Yeh lol thats what i do. Also i give my faction leaders good traits to the faction heir when he is about 55+ (before he dies in other words).

    Yeh i have heard this too but i just dont get what traits can do that to the sons traits. I did read a post about it but i cnt remember where the post was. I think it is within the Rome Total War Eras General Forum.

    lol yeh, and also how to get really weird traits because overly weird traits can cause generals speeches at the beginning of battles to be really well...weird lol. Some traits can make them say stuff like, 'The cow may jump over the moon' and stuff lol but ive never had that. My friend did tho, was quite funny.
