    Default Archer & Catapult Units

    Hello
i've started to play RTRP recently and have 2 questions concerning version 1.9
why was it removed the archer unit from the roman faction, and why did the catapult units were wiped out from the game
I read something about in forum that mentions the unreality of catapults in open terrain battles but their common use in siege battles, something that i agree...but in the game they don't exist at all, shouldn't it be right besides the other siege equipments a imponent catapult to be built in the field of battle?!

You have balistas and scorpions. The onagers(you are refering to these, right) have been removed for the reasons you`ve just said. You can`t make them available with this game engine only in siege battles unfortunately and I also think that the Gladiator like form they had in vanilla RTW is not the one the romans used.
As for the archers... You can hire archers playing as the romans either as mercs or as aor troops recruitable in their home regions. They`re not a faction unit anymore, that`s all. You can hire syrian archers in Syria, sarmatians in that part of the map and so on.
There is a pined FAQ in the RTR sub-forum that might answer some of these questions:

I just wish they`d put a section for the roman archers in there. It has to be THE question for the romans.
