    Default Alexander

I'm thinking of buying a new game, is alexander worth it? I've heard people talk about how it sucks but can you give me a list of the bad and good things about it please? Thank you.

    pros:

lots of challenging battles and a very engaging historical battle line

    good narration

    cons:

only one faction playable, India does not appear in Campaign,(short) turn limit to complete campaign, you autolose if alex dies,

sometimes campaign gets repetitive; fighting stack after stack of persian soldiers.

If I've got it right you only follow the life of Alexander and his expansion towards Asia? I thought that there were a bigger time limit and that the game would contain all the factions that were active during the period, cause it wasn't only Alexander who went to war with other nations at the time. Strange expansion.

Not to be rude, but it IS called "Alexander"

If you like the historical aspect of the game, and the idea of leading a small army of elite phalangites against a massive, but under-equipped and under-trained Persian army, and stretching your empire to the far Indus, buy it. But don't expect:

    -Ever changing battles
    -Multiple factions
    -A long campaign

Its worth it if you can get it cheaply. Very cheap. Ive played the campaign end to end..once. Not interested in going back to play it again. There is only one campaign.

Free mods offer a better gaming experience.

Yeh i recon its worth it. It gives u a load of extras like what Lee said, historical battles and new units and some other units that are in normal rome but their names are chaanged and modified. Its not that expensive and its a cool little add on.

Default Unlock Persia or Scythia in Alexander ?

I've bought it and got to turn 64 -but well playing without re-load-so has only 4 barbarian city conquired so far and 3 barbarian factions destroyed-don't know if I'll win it.
I wonder if you can unlock other faction India,Scythia or Persia
and can you get more turns if you want some strateg, development ?

India isn't in the campaign but the rest of the factions you can play by editing the files like you might have done for RTW or BI

I bought it a week before for 11 $ and it worths your while
Now I unlocked Scythians and under Persian attack -well, most of Scythian units cost 1 gold upkeep(but not all -slingers -200 gold) so I can survive with one city -yet even I defeated many Persians -the 'dogs' are coming en masse and it looks like retreat for me from Anatolia
I probably should destroy and conquire Greece first then send a flota to unprotected Egypt -but time is running away

I don't regret the 10 GBP's I paid for the download of Alexander. I've played the campaign a couple of times and it's a bit of fun if all you want you want is a quick sharp campaign that you can get through in a couple of days.

The life and campaigns of Megas Alexandros continue to intrigue and inspire, and I think it's a shame that no one has given this particular time period the EB or RTR treatment.

The nearest thing I've come across is a mod in development named "Wars of the Diadochi" (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=375), which will start from 323 BC, the year Alexander died, and focuses on his successors.

I've no idea when it's likely to be released but I'm quite keen to give it a go.

There is still a LOTR mod coming out for it based in the Third age and maybe a Chinese mod but I'm not to sure about that one, the LOTR mod is supposed to be out by the end of the month or early next month.
