    Default water in the desert

i had an idea, after reading some comments in the release date thread about supplies-mods.

water was a crucial part of warfare in the desert, any desert.
what if you created special "trade" resources that cant be used by merchants, are like a small lake or something visually, and they activiate specially designed traits for a generals army, when you place the character+army next to them similar to how merchants are placed?
traits such as better morale or enabling them to move from place to place without penalty?

would there be a way to transfer that merchants trade-resource ability to generals but restrict it to the water?

It'd have to not be too restrictive though. I mean, Saladin had enough water for his men just about anywhere because he had tons and tons of camels carrying skins of water.

    that is true.

but then hed have to refill.

perhaps for islamic factions they can be "refilled" like in the supply/trait system of SS 4.1.
generals can be resupplied via "supply ship" of a water vessel,
and there is also an entry left in there to be supplied via merchant but not sure if thats working or not.

would be awesome if you had to visit the watering holes or cities to replenish water supplies in order to fight properly, tho it would be a massive coding undertaking.
im sure someone from CA could do it in under a week if they were paid to do so

It could probably could be done in a way similar to the supply trait in SS 4.1. However, I, and others, found that sort of supply mechanism to be a royal pain in the arse.

It's definitely a relevant and interesting idea especially given our mod's dominant climate.

Just based on my experience with SS 4.1 I would be careful about a "water supply trait". In SS 4.1 there was a very similar trait conccept based on foraging supplies that affects the character's movement rates. I and many others found it to be irritating beyond belief, yet many others also found it to be very fun. There was quite a stark contrast between those who liked it and those who didn't. All in all I would be cautious about including such a trait, just my two cents, yet it is really your decision in the end.

I know, it annoyed me a ton too. But I'm thinking we could simplify it and not make it as restricting, but still have it necessary to go to a settlement or go near a lake or river of some sort every x amount of turns.

If this is added sometime in the future, I think going without water should lower morale, command stars, and loyalty, since ppl would be far less combat effective. Its a shame that you can't make a 'drought' plague, if you understand what I mean. I think its a good idea, but don't make it too restrictive, or you will never go anywhere on the map.

i think it's unnecessary and annoying to manage.

Agreed with Asean, I don't play SS anymore because of this new feature...please not even something related to this trait.

    Although it is your choice.

I did not like the way foraging was done in SS 4.1

If you forget about the foraging for just a little while, then your entire ****ING ARMY DIES!

But an army with a captain(not a general) never starves.
