Egyptians are they reall black?

OK people i think it is time we get to the bottom of this discussion i have a couple problems with this topic

1. why do white people call people that believe in egyptians race to be black to be Afrocentric?.. but call themselves scholars?

2. Second fact all the things i found on Egypt since i have researched have showed before the Ptolemaic empire came that egyptians saw themselves as "black" http://www.geocities.com/wally_mo/Eg...s/image004.jpg

3. why do whites think Nubian's and Ethiopians have Caucasian features when it is from Africa everyone came? that doesn't make since to me is that in a way saying that they are smarter? i didnt understand that..

4. how come you see the hieroglyphics and you clearly see that they see themselves as black people still say no? that is like me going to Britain and say no they were not white people....

5. why do people when you are talking about ancient races they bring up a picture of people living there now lol. that is like someone saying that Indians lived in America and tell them no white and blacks lived there lol

those are some of the things we should discuss and plz to not show me that stupid weather chart that shows the racist lol because that is just stupid dont prove anything. plz show me some hard prove like pictures or something that came from ancient times

I don't think anyone in their right mind has ever portrayed the Nubians as having caucasian features. Usually they're the epitome of black.

The fact you think there was an Egyptian 'race' is stupid in the first place. They'd likely have been paler in the north, to blacker in the south, with an enormous amount of admixture. Why do you think that their own artwork portrays so many different colours? Also, you should read accounts of people who lived in the time periods concerned (well, from 1000bc onwards) and see what they have to say on the matter.

problem with that is that egyptians history looking at there history from 1000bc onwards is that.. they had a history before that Way before that

from what little I know of ancient Egypt (and that's not much) you're probably right. Throughout much of the ancient world, skin color wasn't really important, but rather culture.

No, the native Egyptians aren't black Africans. They're Africans, but not dark-skinned ones. They're not from the sub-Saharan, which is where that skin tone developed. The native Egyptian ethnic group are Semites, similar to Ethiopians, Arabs, Berbers, Moors, and Hebrews. They've always had more of an olive complexion than dark brown.

But, at the same time, they weren't Caucasians. Anyone who claims that the Egyptians were Caucasian is being as Eurocentric as those claiming the Egyptians were black are being Afrocentric. It's ridiculous that people, especially ones who are supposed to be scholars, managed narrow their thought process on ethnicity to "white v. black".

OK well he is the problem with that argument and that is you say they are no sub- Saharan African well black people do not come in just one tone we have different shades of black there is light skinned blacks and there are dark skinned blacks so... when you see a painting of them clearly saying that they are like the Nubian's and showing you the difference between them and the Semites and Europeans why do people still not believe that there complexion or skin tone was black... that i just didnt understand. for instance Hannibal he was probably modern day Sicilian looking but people want to claim him as being black or white.. when Sicilian are clearly mixed with both races

Look, Egyptians were not black. They were brown dudes. The Nubians, however, were black. Egyptians and Nubians had both a long history of war and peaceful interaction. The Egyptians kept the Nile against all comers.....most of whom were black. The Pharaohs were never black. They were brown, or copper, or whatever else you want to call it. Ruling families who are racist tend to keep the bloodline as pure as possible, even through multiple dynasties.

And Stormfront can get ****ed......the Pharaohs were not white.

There is only one race and thats the Human race. We all came from africa and were all originally black most likely. The ancient Egyptians were all dark of that there is no argument but were they Negroes? I doubt it. They made no distiction as too race. They came in all sorts of colors just like Americans.

i dont know what i am because i am not as dark as a nubian but i am not a semite or white according to all these quote scholars i should be put in a diffrent class.. the funny thing is that if you ever heard of the one drop rule it says that if you have one drop of black or diffrent racial blood you are considered that race... so what am I is the race African- american really its own race like the egyptians?

I thought since Ethiopia was next to Egypt and Saudi Arabia (Kingdom of Saba) and IN Africa near "black" or hamitic peoples, that the ethiopians are mix of all 3?

Not to mention the Ethiopian Jews!

There was even a special on the History Channel where Josh Bernstein found out about African Jews near the south of Africa, way beyond Ethiopia.

Egyptians of old would look pretty much like Egyptians of today. Great variety but the average should be relatively unchanged. It's the same thing around the Med.

No Hannibal is semetic, from an area that is now Lebanon. He would look like someone from the Middle East. The Egyptians are also semetic (accept for the nobility during the Ptolemaic age which were Greek) and so were the northern Africans. The Southern Africans were Black, and that includes the kingdom of Mali (richest in the world during its day) and Great Zimbabwe and the Zulu.
